[…] Unacceptable forever. And so you had, and on the Israeli side, their core demand was at the end of this, Hamas will never be in power in Gaza again. So how do you bridge that and try to get the hostages out? You can't just say, Get the hostages home. End the war. Like, how do you actually do it? And that's what this book is about. And so a few weeks into the war, a very difficult negotiation, we had a deal for all women and children. This included toddlers. There's a story of Abigail. The American girl is in the book. Her parents were killed in front of her on October 7th. She was taken hostage, you know, 80-year-old grandmothers, and women and children, very clear, in exchange for about 10 Palestinian prisoners for each hostage. […]
