Specifically, a fetus with mild aortic stenosis and a normal LV can have a good outcome, but serial surveillance is warranted because clinically important progression, including possible neonatal critical aortic stenosis, is not uncommon. To quote the authors in their conclusion, mild fetal aortic stenosis is uncommonly diagnosed and the spectrum of outcomes is wide. Despite the subtle imaging findings at initial presentation, this is an important population to identify as over one-third of patients may develop significant stenosis postnatally and require aortic valve intervention in infancy.
