Every person has a story. Every story reveals something about God.
On the People Finding God Podcast, we explore the journeys of ordinary people who encountered God in extraordinary circumstances.
Together, we uncover who they were before, what life looked like when everything changed, and how God met them in the middle of their pain, questions, loss, healing, and hope.
These are stories of faith forged through real life—not perfect lives, but transformed ones.
Because often, we don’t find God when life is easy.
We find Him when we need Him most.
**Content note: This episode includes discussion of childhood sexual abuse and addiction.
Debbie Harris grew up feeling unloved, carrying the pain of childhood abuse and generations of alcoholism. But even in those early years, she remembers moments when God quietly reached her.
In this episode of People Finding God, Debbie shares how becoming a mother sparked her search for God, how therapy and Al-Anon helped her begin healing, and how she learned that the things she had been told about herself were never the truth of who she was.
With honesty and humor, she opens up about her husband’s journey to sobriety, their fifty years of marriage, and the cancer diagnosis that brought them into a deeper experience of love, forgiveness, and receiving help.
This is a conversation about breaking generational cycles, recognizing God in the people who show up, and learning to believe you are loved.

Dana Palmer: From Balance To Harmony
Dana Palmer learned early how to take care of herself. But learning to let others and God help her would take a lifetime.
In this episode of People Finding God, Dana shares how God met her in the loneliness of a mission, a terrifying trust fall, and the hospital room where her husband lay after a devastating accident. Along the way, she discovered that she could release the pressure to do everything and be fully present for what mattered most.
With humor and wisdom, Dana invites us to face our fears, trade the pursuit of balance for harmony, and let God show us a way forward we may not have seen.

Boad Swanson: Who I Was Had To Die
Boad Swanson grew up believing in God, but for years, his life moved further and further away from Him.
After chasing ambition, adventure, and a faster life, Boad found himself in Washington, D.C., successful on the outside but increasingly lost on the inside. Then one cold, rainy night, he walked through a park and asked out loud, “What am I going to do with my life?”
Moments later, two missionaries walked toward him.
That encounter became the beginning of a complete change in direction, one that eventually led Boad to a mission at age 26, marriage and family, serving as a bishop, and writing his book, Great Souled Men.
In this episode, we talk about what happens when God feels silent, why getting lost can sometimes be part of finding Him, and how the hardest chapters can become the wisdom we eventually give back to others.
Boad’s story is a reminder that God can be working long before we recognize His hand, and sometimes the life we thought was falling apart is actually making room for something new.
