   45. Hear Us Out: There's No Such Thing as Busy | Emily Cheney

I got to have this awesome conversation with life coach Emily Cheney about our personal perspectives on feeling “busy,” which is deep transformational work she’s done for herself and with clients. We look into what it means to stop automatically labeling our lives as busy and start looking at our time, choices, and responsibilities through a different lens. All within Emily's light, inviting, non-judgmental approach that is vital to considering new ideas. We talk about the difference between facts and stories, how to recognize the thoughts that keep us feeling rushed or overwhelmed, and a few options for how to reframe a “busy” life to create more space for choice, presence, creativity, and calm. Meet the Expert Emily Cheney is a life coach based in Utah who works with ambitious, high-achieving women who want to live their lives fully. Her work focuses on deep transformational coaching and helping women create the lives they want without relying on pressure, perfectionism, or the belief that doing more always means doing better. Listen for when Emily shares the mindset shift that helped her personally rethink busyness, including a powerful story from her college years about carrying a very full schedule. Key Takeaways You don't have to pretend your calendar is empty or convince yourself that you have unlimited time. There can be a middle ground between “I'm so busy” and “I have endless time.” You don't have to change your thinking overnight. Start by noticing the stories you're telling yourself and experimenting with new ones. 44. Letting Your Soul Catch Up With Your Body

What if I told you the noise around us doesn't have to completely disappear for us to step away, slow down, and find stillness? I’m talking about a connection I made while walking my dog on a beautiful tree-lined path close to a loud street this past week that reminded me a lot of meditation and the way we can learn to separate ourselves from the mental noise around us. There will always be desirable and undesirable voices, opinions, information, responsibilities, worries, and distractions around us. But we can learn to notice them without making them our focus. I’m talking about meditation, mindfulness, listening to your own voice of wisdom, and creating space to slow down even when life itself isn’t quiet. I think you’ll love the story I share at the end about some men who wouldn’t hustle because they were waiting for their souls to catch up to their bodies. Maybe you’ll have a spark about how you can do that for yourself if the situation resonates. Cheering you on! ANNOUNCEMENT: For the listeners that saw my IG stories, I said you would be the first to hear about my newest offer before it appeared on Instagram. My apologies that did not happen amongst some close family circumstances this past weekend! The announcement is: I am running a group called The Time Collective that will meet October-December. I’ve been craving a mastermind experience of studying the art of time management, and I can’t wait to do it with other women this time of year. I want to give a special offer to my podcast listeners, details to come. Message me with interest and we’ll make sure you’re down for the podcast bonus! 43. Failing Successfully: Experience is Experience

Experts often market themselves as experts because of how many times they’ve succeeded, what they’ve figured out works. That makes sense, we want to know that they know what works. However, sometimes we forget that how they figured out what worked is often by also learning a lot about what doesn’t work. As the expert of your life, you’re learning a lot about what does and doesn’t work for you, for your family, for your career. You are the expert of your life because you are the most experienced in your own life. Both success and failure fall under the category of “experience” that are building blocks of growth.
