Burnout at 50: Why Life Didn't Get Easier

What happens when the career you built no longer fits the person you’re becoming? In this episode of Persisting and Purpose, Greg sits down with Bill Finley to unpack a vocational journey marked by ministry, church planting, leadership mistakes, burnout, counseling, financial pressure, fatherhood, and ultimately a renewed understanding of purpose. Bill shares candidly about launching a church with little leadership experience, learning to receive criticism, confronting unhealthy patterns in his own life, and discovering why growth doesn’t stop when you reach a certain age or level of success. He also explains how a difficult career transition eventually led him to Search Ministries, where he helps create relational spaces for adults to explore questions about life, faith, and God. For founders, business leaders, and professionals wrestling with career transition, identity, money, or the pressure to have life figured out, Bill offers an important perspective: your vocation matters, but it was never meant to define you. This conversation explores how faith, humility, counseling, relationships, financial stewardship, and lifelong growth can reshape the way we approach both work and life.
