[…] And Sears... leaned into that, not out of virtue, but out of the realization that black money spent just as well as white money did. Oh, that's so interesting. It's being anonymous before the internet, right? Yeah, exactly. Being an anonymous user. Exactly. Jim Crow was just as much law as it was tradition. And so there were a lot of backlashes to Sears for allowing black people to purchase from there. And there was a lot of efforts by postmasters to stop the sale of money orders. And Sears was very diligent about educating their consumers about how to work around this. And they were constantly going and sharing additional information about how you can just make a small adjustment and still conduct your business. […]
