Kalungi Ssebandeke shares four works that shaped his creative voice, from early inspiration to refined craft.
In this self-told audio portrait, he reflects on the moments, details, and instincts that shape how he approaches character, rhythm, and storytelling. Moving across theatre, screen, and performance, Kalungi explores how different forms sharpen his perspective and expand his imagination. The episode builds towards one of his own works, revealing how influence becomes voice. FOUR WORKS is a clear, personal account of how a storyteller listens, learns, and develops through the works that stay with him.

The Unacclaimed: Ora Washington
In 1920s America, one woman dominated two sports simultaneously – yet her name was erased from history.
Ora Washington won 23 African American national tennis titles and 11 consecutive Coloured Women’s World Championships in basketball. She was arguably America’s greatest Black female athlete, yet almost nobody knows it.
The Unacclaimed travels back to the sounds and textures of early 20th-century America to ask: how do extraordinary legacies disappear? This is a story about forgetting and why some names deserve to be spoken again.

Irish History For Brits
A potted history of Ireland, specially curated for our nearest neighbours.
If you ever found yourself wondering why Patrick is Ireland’s patron saint, who was Molly Malone, and what caused all “the unpleasantness” between us, this is the podcast for you. Join Irishman Barry McStay as he attempts to teach the pieces of Irish history that every Brit should know to his under-informed English friend Ben Van der Velde. Each week they’ll be joined by a professional historian and attempt to keep the conversation light, informative and guilt-free when tackling the potato famine, the Easter Rising and the lingering side-effects of Riverdance.
