Is it Sleep Paralysis.. or Something Else...

In Episode 3 of Pink Collar Paranormies, we dive into one of the most debated topics in the paranormal world: sleep paralysis versus genuine paranormal encounters. Is sleep paralysis simply a scientifically understood sleep phenomenon, or could some experiences point to something we don't fully understand? We explore the science behind sleep paralysis, a condition that occurs when a person becomes conscious while the body remains temporarily immobilized during the transition between sleep and wakefulness. Many people report vivid hallucinations, a sense of dread, pressure on the chest, and the feeling that an unseen presence is nearby. Researchers link these experiences to REM sleep and dream imagery blending with waking consciousness. But that's where the mystery begins. Across cultures and generations, people have reported encounters with shadowy figures during these episodes. One of the most infamous is The Hat Man—a tall, dark figure often described as wearing a wide-brimmed hat and standing silently at the foot of the bed. Despite many reports being associated with sleep paralysis, countless experiencers insist what they witnessed felt far too real to dismiss. Throughout the episode, we examine both skeptical and paranormal perspectives. Could stress, sleep deprivation, and brain activity explain these frightening encounters? Or are some experiences truly unexplained? We leave the final judgment to you. Pennhurst & Paracon....Annabell

In this episode of Pink Collar Paranormies, we take you inside our experience at Pennhurst Paracon, one of the East Coast's largest paranormal conventions, held at the historic former Pennhurst State School and Hospital in Spring City, Pennsylvania. Known today for its reputation as one of America's most haunted locations, Pennhurst attracts paranormal investigators, history enthusiasts, and curious visitors from around the world. Reports of shadow figures, unexplained voices, footsteps, strange sensations, and other paranormal encounters have made the property a staple in paranormal television and ghost-hunting circles. But behind the ghost stories lies a much deeper and more important history. Originally opened in 1908, Pennhurst was established as a residential institution for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Over the decades, severe overcrowding, neglect, and documented abuse led to national attention and public outrage. The institution became the focus of a groundbreaking investigation by journalist Bill Baldini, whose documentary Suffer the Little Children exposed the conditions inside the facility and helped spark conversations about disability rights and institutional reform across the United States. Join us as we discuss Pennhurst's history, our experience attending Paracon, the stories that continue to surround the property, and the emotional impact of visiting a place where thousands of lives were forever changed. We explore the intersection of history and the paranormal while sharing our own observations from one of the most talked-about locations in the paranormal community. Was Pennhurst's haunted reputation born from genuine paranormal activity, the weight of its tragic history, or something else entirely? Listen as we dive into one of America's most controversial and fascinating historic sites. Forgotten Cemetery of the 924

Hidden behind the history of New Jersey's former Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital lies one of the state's most heartbreaking and overlooked landmarks—a cemetery containing 924 numbered graves. In this episode of Pink Collar Paranormies, we explore the story of the men and women who spent their final days inside Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital and were ultimately buried in a cemetery marked not by names, but by numbers. Why were so many patients left unclaimed? What was life like inside the institution? And what does this forgotten cemetery reveal about the way society once treated those struggling with mental illness? We examine the history of Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital, which operated from 1931 until its closure in 1998, and discuss the cemetery established for patients whose families could not be located or could not provide private burials. For decades, visitors could only identify graves by numbers until a memorial pavilion was constructed in 1991 to connect those numbers to the names of the individuals buried there. We'll also discuss the hospital's troubled legacy, including allegations of neglect, abuse, overcrowding, and the undercover investigation conducted by New Jersey State Senator Richard Codey that helped expose conditions within the institution. Along the way, we'll explore the emotional impact of walking among hundreds of numbered graves and the stories that continue to surround the site today. Was this cemetery simply a practical solution to a tragic reality, or does it stand as a lasting reminder of people who were forgotten by society? Join us as we uncover the history, mystery, and humanity behind the 924 souls who remain at rest in Marlboro's forgotten cemetery. Listener Discretion: This episode contains discussions of mental illness, institutionalization, patient neglect, death, and historical mistreatment. Some listeners may find these topics disturbing.
