Episode 10 | The Long Way To Surrender (Cody's Testimony)

What does it really take for a man to surrender? In this episode, we unpack the long and often painful road through addiction, control, pride, and self-reliance — and what finally brings someone to the end of themselves. Episode 8 | The Years The Locusts Ate

In this episode of Pit to Purpose, Cody, Derek, Jamayne, and Jordan have a raw conversation on gratitude, God’s restoration, and what sobriety really means in recovery. We open with Joel 2:25 and explore the difference between redemption and restoration—how God can rebuild what addiction broke, and how “the years the locust ate” can still turn into purpose. We also get real about carrying consequences even while healing, rebuilding trust, and repairing relationships over time. Then we tackle a controversial question: what is sobriety? We discuss abstinence, intention, “mind-altering vs impairing,” and why switching substances can keep the same bondage alive. If you’re navigating recovery, wrestling with faith, or looking for hope that’s actually practical—this episode is for you. Verse: Joel 2:25 — “I will restore to you the years the locust has eaten.”

Episode 2 | Pre Gaming Verses

Sometimes the very thing meant to break us becomes the place where God does His greatest work. In Episode 2 of Pit to Purpose, we sit down for an honest conversation about hope—the kind you don’t just quote, but the kind you cling to when life feels impossible. We open with Jeremiah 29:11 and talk about what hope looks like in real life: coming out of addiction learning how to trust again rebuilding after years of survival mode realizing sobriety is more than staying clean—it’s the recovery of the soul We get real about the “God-sized hole” so many people try to fill with alcohol, drugs, money, relationships, and validation, and why none of it ever satisfies. We also talk about how faith, trust, and hope connect, and what it looks like to hand the heavy stuff over to God instead of carrying it alone. If you’re still standing in the middle—not who you used to be, but not fully where you’re headed yet—this one’s for you. Hope still holds.
