What do you do after God brings you through?
The Israelites had spent generations in slavery. They had watched God confront Pharaoh, followed Him out of Egypt, stood trapped at the Red Sea—and then witnessed God make a way where there was no way.
Now they're standing safely on the other side.
And before they worry about what comes next...
they sing.
In Let Freedom Sing, Pastor Ruth explores Exodus 15:1–21 and what Israel's first response to freedom teaches us about remembering God's faithfulness, responding to grace, trusting God with an uncertain future, and telling the story of what He has done.
Because Israel didn't worship so God would rescue them.
God rescued them first. Then they worshiped.
And that's still the pattern of grace.

When the Way Out Is Through
What do you do when you’ve followed God—and the road ahead looks impossible?
Israel had finally escaped Egypt, but freedom didn’t take them down the road they expected. God deliberately led them on the longer route until they found themselves with the Red Sea ahead, Pharaoh’s army behind, and seemingly nowhere to go.
But what looked like a dead end became the place where God made a way.
In “When the Way Forward Is Through,” Pastor Ruth continues The Storyline of Scripture through Exodus 13:17–14:31 and explores what the Red Sea teaches us about trusting God when His route doesn’t make sense, resisting the temptation to return to familiar bondage, knowing when to stand still and when to move, and taking the next faithful step before we can see the entire road.
This is also a Communion Sunday, and we’ll share the Lord’s Supper together near the end of the message. If you’d like to participate, have something nearby to represent the bread and the cup. You don’t need special communion elements—come with a heart ready to remember Jesus and what He has done for us.
In this message:
Why God deliberately led Israel on the longer road
Why difficulty doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve missed God
How fear can make “Egypt” look better than it really was
What “The LORD will fight for you” means
Why God tells Israel both to stand still and to move
How to trust God when the road hasn’t appeared yet
How the Red Sea points forward to the greater deliverance accomplished through Jesus
Communion and remembering Christ’s death and resurrection
This week’s Big Idea:
Sometimes God does not remove what stands in front of us. He makes a way through it.
Your Pivot Point:
Where are you demanding that God show you the entire road before you’re willing to trust Him with the next step?
Remember:
You don’t have to see the way when you know the One who makes the way.
Next week: We continue into Exodus 15:1–21, where Israel finally stands on the other side of the sea and responds with worship. What do we do after God brings us through?

Covered: When Judgement Passed Over
There was death coming to every house in Egypt.
It didn't matter whether you were rich or poor.
Powerful or powerless.
Egyptian or Israelite.
There was only one question that mattered:
Are you covered by the blood?
Because on that night, God didn't tell Israel to fight.
He didn't tell them to hide.
He didn't tell them to prove they were good enough to be saved.
He gave them a lamb.
And thousands of years later, God would give us another Lamb.
His name is Jesus.
And the story of Passover may be one of the clearest places in the Old Testament where we can see the cross before the cross ever happened.
