Against the Odds: Amputation, Fatherhood & the Strength to Keep Going

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫, but giving up is not an option? In this episode of 𝐏𝐨𝐝𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟑, Jay sits down with 𝐉𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐚𝐡 𝐆𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐚 for an honest conversation about life after amputation, type 1 diabetes, depression, fatherhood, faith, and finding the strength to keep going. Jeremiah shares how a spider bite developed into a serious infection and eventually led to the amputation of his leg. What followed was an overwhelming period of physical and emotional adjustment, including phantom limb pain, limited mobility, isolation, and some of the darkest moments of his life. Through it all, Jeremiah’s faith and his responsibility as a father gave him a reason to keep getting back up. Jay and Jeremiah also discuss men’s mental health, the pressure to always appear strong, and why vulnerability should never be mistaken for weakness. Jeremiah opens up about the importance of finding a healthy outlet, asking for help, and having a safe place to speak honestly without judgment. This episode is for anyone navigating life after amputation, living with type 1 diabetes, struggling with depression, adjusting to a disability, or rebuilding after a life-changing medical experience. Jeremiah’s message is simple: Life may hit you hard, but you cannot give up. Called to Serve: A Story of Faith, Healing & Ministry | Podcast 23

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞? In this episode of 𝐏𝐨𝐝𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟑, Jay sits down with 𝐄𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐚𝐱𝐭𝐨𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 for a powerful conversation about calling, surrender, healing, miracles, and the goodness of God. Paxton shares how his faith began to take root after being brought into a Pentecostal church as a child, how he gave his life to Christ at sixteen, and how he later felt called into ministry during a youth camp. His story is a reminder that God can restore passion, soften the heart, and reveal purpose even after seasons of distance or pain. Jay and Paxton also discuss what it truly means to be a minister, why ministry is a joy, and how prayer continues to change lives. The conversation moves into healing, miracles, AI and scripture, social media influence in modern ministry, and the return of Christ. In a world where faith can easily become content, and ministry can be confused with influence, this episode points back to what matters most: helping people encounter Jesus .
