About Podcast Permission Slip | Powered by PodAssist
It's Matt Mawhinney with PodAssist here, and this is Podcast Permission Slip, the podcast that reminds you that it's YOUR SHOW and there are NO RULES.
Since 2015, we've worked behind the scenes with hundreds of podcasters from solo creators to global companies. I've seen what works, what doesn't, and I'm here to dispel the myths that make podcasting feel harder than it needs to be.
I'm stepping out of my own comfort zone to grant myself permission to host a podcast for the very first time, and I'd love for you to follow along.
This show is for two groups:
The Dreamers - waiting for the "perfect time" to start
The Faded - those who hit pause and haven't found their way back to the mic (yet)
We're moving past the imposter syndrome, the tech hurdles, and the perfectionism so you can actually have fun with your message again.
You can follow or subscribe now to get new new episodes as soon as they drop (most episodes will be 15 minutes or under and end with an actionable 'permission slip' you can use immediately).
I can't wait for you to join me on this journey, and remember - it's YOUR SHOW and there are NO RULES!
21: Three Things You Can Do When You're Falling Behind on Your Podcast
Have you ever found yourself scrambling to get a recording done the day before your episode is due? No judgment here! It happens to almost every podcaster at some point, and today I'm sharing three things you can do to get out of that cycle and finally get ahead on your show.
Do you have a tip that could help other podcasters with this issue? I'd love to hear it! You can find me on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/matt.mawhinney.9/), LinkedIn, or send a note to matt@podassist.com.
And remember, it's YOUR show and there are NO RULES!

20: Put the Needle Down: What Classic Rock Can Teach You About Podcasting
After a couple of heavier episodes I wanted to do something a little different this week. I went to my record collection and pulled out a few classic songs that I think tie into podcasting in ways you might not expect.
I would have loved to splice in the actual music but copyright is copyright, so I've linked up the music videos below instead. Queue them up after you're done listening for some podcasting motivation!
I'd love to hear from you - got a song title that you think would fit and teach others lessons about podcasting? You can find me on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/matt.mawhinney.9/), LinkedIn, or send a note to matt@podassist.com.

19: Client Feature: What I've Learned in the Podcast Trenches with Marc Mawhinney
My guest today has been in the podcast trenches longer than almost anyone I know. My brother Marc Mawhinney is our very first podcast client, the person who got me into this space back in 2015, and by the time this episode airs he'll be approaching 1,000 episodes of Natural Born Coaches. That's a milestone that a tiny fraction of podcasters will ever reach!
We got into how Marc started with a daily show and intentionally scaled back over the years, what changes he's seen in the podcasting space since 2014, and how he uses his podcast as a genuine business tool rather than chasing downloads or vanity metrics (plus much more).
What he shares in this one could be a goldmine for both new podcasters and long-time ones!
If something resonated with you here I'd love to hear from you! I'm planning a fall mailbag episode and would love to feature your thoughts and give you and your show or business a shoutout. You can find me on Facebook, LinkedIn, or send a note to matt@podassist.com.
