Warsh Won't Guide Markets While Bessent Edits Their Signals

For more, subscribe to my newsletter: https://polispandit.substack.com Kevin Warsh gave his first Jackson Hole speech as Fed Chair and refused to tell markets what happens next. Coverage split into "hawkish" and "evasive" but I disagree with both. Warsh isn't withholding guidance out of caution, but replacing it with market prices. He told the room exactly which signals he'd be reading: Treasury prices and volumes, the dollar, credit conditions, commodities. In the weeks before he spoke, Treasury intervened in two of the four. This video walks through what Warsh actually said about inflation, why he thinks forward guidance corrupts the very data the Fed depends on, and why his framework requires an input the Treasury Secretary has publicly decided needs correcting.Chapters:00:18 — The two camps, and what both miss00:55 — What Warsh actually said about inflation02:01 — The most hawkish line in the speech03:39 — Bernanke's hall of mirrors05:15 — The four signals he named05:35 — What Treasury did on August 1908:48 — The strongest counterargument11:45 — Principle five, and who's using the tool14:01 — What to watch before September 16Sources: Chairman Kevin Warsh, "In Our Time," Federal Reserve, August 28, 2026 (federalreserve.gov). Why George Springer Is Aaron F'ing Boone and Other 2025 Seattle Mariners Closing Thoughts

Tough loss for the Seattle Mariners in Game 7 of the ALCS against the Toronto Blue Jays. And to lose it on a home run from George Springer - that's extra painful. For my experience at the ALCS (Game 4) with my mama, check out my YouTube channel - https://youtu.be/wnrCrvXsQzg?si=XAcBVZ0bSDecYLpT In this episode, I discuss the questionable managerial choices by Seattle manager Dan Wilson, the big hit and the disdain Mariners have for George Springer (although most of us NEVER wanted to see him get injured), and the overall 2025 Seattle Mariners season, while looking ahead to next year. I also preview - with my prediction - for the upcoming World Series matchup between the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers. Like the 2003 Boston Red Sox, the 2025 Seattle Mariners will be back for redemption.

Seattle Mariners Up 2-0 in the ALCS!? Why We Cannot Get Overconfident and Other Thoughts About the 2025 Seattle Mariners

The 2025 Mariners have all the momentum as the American League Championship series shifts back to Seattle for Game 3. They are up 2-0 with a pitching staff that has finally received some better rest and hitters who are starting to find their swings. But now is NOT the time to get complacent or overconfident. In this episode, I break down some of the math that might suggest how the odds are in the Mariners' favor, but comebacks have happened before and this Toronto Blue Jays team is good. Below are some of the essays and the YouTube channel I mentioned in the episode: - My essay on the 2025 Seattle Mariners: https://polispandit.com/waited-24-years-seattle-mariners/ - Seattle Times story on What history says about the Mariners' chances to reach World Series: https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/mariners/mariners-hold-a-huge-advantage-up-2-0-in-alcs-they-know-better-than-to-let-up-now/ - My YouTube Channel - M's VLOG coming soon! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsVgf0vt_NMPLiH3U3xfNFQ Sign up for my newsletter so you don't miss any of my work: https://polispandit.substack.com

I Tried the 16 Best Bagels in NYC and Found Tradition Beats Trends

Food trends come and go—cronuts, Dubai chocolate, etc.—but true culinary icons tell the story of a city. In this episode, I dive into the history and culture of New York City’s most enduring staple: the bagel. From its immigrant roots on the Lower East Side to the rise of the bagel bakers’ union, from New York vs. Montreal bagel debates to my own 16-bagel tour across the city, we explore what makes a New York bagel unique—and why tradition matters more than trends. Want my definitive ranking for the best bagel in NYC? Check out the full YouTube video and essay below, and be sure to sign up for my newsletter so you don't miss future cultural deep dives! Google Just Escaped the Biggest Antitrust Case in Decades

Google just pulled off the biggest antitrust escape in decades.A federal judge ruled that Google violated U.S. antitrust law — but when it came to punishment? No breakup. No fines. No consent decree like Microsoft in the 2000s. Instead, a slap on the wrist that leaves Google free to dominate AI, deepen its Apple partnership, and keep driving the future of tech.In this video, I break down:- Why Google dodged the harshest remedies- What this ruling means for Apple, Meta, Amazon, and other Big Tech firms facing antitrust scrutiny- How startups and AI rivals like OpenAI, Anthropic, and Perplexity could benefit from the decision- Why this case sets a precedent for the future of antitrust law in techThis is the biggest shift in tech regulation since Microsoft vs. DOJ — and it could reshape the AI race.Subscribe for more deep dives on AI, Big Tech, politics, and the future of innovation! You can also find me here:- Website: polispandit.com- Newsletter: https://polispandit.substack.com- Medium: https://medium.com/@johnny-p- X: https://x.com/TheJohnnyp21- Threads: https://www.threads.com/@johnnyp21

The Critical Thinking Crisis: What You Can Do About It

We are in the midst of a critical thinking crisis. Instead of consuming news and media from objective sources, we increasingly rely on influencers and social media accounts, almost none of whom have editorial departments fact-checking their work. Traditional media has adapted to this brave new world by injecting more opinion in the endless quest for eyeballs and attention. In this episode, we explore ways we can sharpen our critical thinking skills to counter these forces at play. Donald Trump Did Some Good, But the Bad Far Outweighs It

Make critical thinking your superpower at polispandit.com In this episode, we take a critical and objective look at Donald Trump. We assess the good, the bad, and the ugly. The 2024 U.S. Election is only weeks away and it's important that we prioritize the most critical issues to American democracy - namely, the sanctity of the U.S. electoral system, the rule of law, and the peaceful transfer of power. Breaking Up Google: Why This Is Not Microsoft Circa 2000

There’s a cruel irony to breaking up Google. The company that stands to benefit most is Microsoft; the same tech giant that faced antitrust scrutiny, near breakup, and years of stagnation while Google filled the void with its domination of search and mobile operating systems. Now, Google is hearing the antitrust music, and Microsoft’s Bing is poised to capitalize. Young Men Are Not Alright

American society is failing its young men. They are suffering from loneliness (https://melindawmoyer.substack.com/p/the-epidemic-of-male-loneliness), rates of suicide (https://www.cdc.gov/suicide/suicide-data-statistics.html), and drug overdoses (https://nida.nih.gov/news-events/news-releases/2023/06/men-died-of-overdose-at-2-3-times-greater-a-rate-than-women-in-the-us-in-2020-2021#:~:text=The%20study%20found%20that%20men,(like%20methamphetamine%20and%20cocaine).) that are disproportionate to women. Many (ages 18-34) still live in their parent’s home (https://www.statista.com/statistics/595249/millennials-live-in-their-parents-home-gender/#:~:text=Gen%20Z%20and%20millennial%20men,almost%2019%20percent%20of%20men.). They are also less likely to graduate  (https://www.nbcnews.com/meet-the-press/data-download/women-men-college-degrees-good-news-democrats-rcna100833#)from high school and attend or graduate from college compared to young girls. Yet almost nobody in modern culture talks about it. This is why I wanted to make this podcast. How American Pacifism Led To World War I and Now May Lead To World War III

Isn’t it ironic that pacifism can lead to war? But if you look back at the events leading up to World War I, that’s exactly what happened. America was indifferent when war broke out in Europe. Instead of acting boldly and swiftly to tame an aggressive Germany, America sat back until Britain and France were on the verge of defeat. The parallels to Ukraine and Russian aggression today are unmistakable. University Presidents Fail Antisemitism Test

For my article related to this video, please see: https://polispandit.com/university-presidents-fail-antisemitism-test/ Make sure to subscribe to this weekly newsletter so you don't miss essays, videos, and other forms of critical analysis on current events: https://polispandit.substack.com In this video, we explore antisemitism on college campuses, specifically at Harvard, MIT, and the University of Pennsylvania. As of the publication of this video, one of the university presidents from each school who testified on before Congress this past week has already resigned (Elizabeth Magill at Penn). The video challenges the prevailing perspectives of all three university presidents and how they've reacted to acts of antisemitism on their respective campuses. It questions the following: 1) If we replaced Jews with another target ethnic group, would the reactions by these university presidents be the same? 2) In university cultures that for almost a decade have even policed microaggressions, how is any of this acceptable towards Jewish students? 3) How can we correct the long and dark history of antisemitism on many U.S. college campuses? In addition, the video raises prescient questions about whether anti-Zionism equates to antisemitism. What can be done about the antisemitism on college campuses? Is foreign money that's accepted by many U.S. universities to blame? Should we rein in the tax-exempt status of these institutions? Should they focus more on intellectual diversity by hiring a balance of teachers across the political spectrum? All of these questions and others related to the Israel-Palestine conflict are discussed and debated. Please tell us your thoughts. So long as they are made in good faith, I will do my best to respond. Here's to hoping that morality, humanity, and critical thinking can prevail. Taking Down John Mearsheimer on Russia's Invasion of Ukraine

Lex Fridman recently interviewed John Mearsheimer on his podcast. Overall, it was an interesting interview, but Lex failed to address many of the critiques against Mearsheimer's worldview and specifically, his opinions on Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022. In this episode, we address John Mearsheimer's main arguments head-on, including the following: 1. "There’s no evidence Vladimir Putin was interested in conquering all of Ukraine" 2. "NATO expansionism was the cause of Putin’s invasion of Ukraine" 3. "Putin does NOT have imperialist goals" 4. "Putin is most sensitive about security" 5. "The Americans and British sabotaged a chance at peace in Ukraine in 2022 when Neftali Bennet, then Prime Minister of Israel, was near the finish line at brokering peace." 6. "Russians took Minsk very seriously" 7. "No prospect of a meaningful peace agreement in Ukraine" Join us in making critical thinking cool again by subscribing to our weekly newsletter: https://polispandit.substack.com For further reading, check out the following essays and articles: - Israel and Ukraine: Revealing the Dangerous Consequences of a Changing World Order: https://medium.com/p/c1a957b26795 - To Those Blaming NATO or the United States For Russian Aggression: https://medium.com/p/c98524de1436 - How to End the War in Ukraine: https://medium.com/p/e3524dda5c34 Follow us here: - Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7viaWr4gFZfBoknK-AOPwg (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7viaWr4gFZfBoknK-AOPwg) - Twitter/X: https://twitter.com/TheJohnnyp21 - Threads: https://www.threads.net/@thejohnnyp21 - Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thejohnnyp21/ - TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@realjohnnyp - Medium: https://medium.com/@johnny-p - polispandit.com
