S1E82 - The Odyssey and Katie Price: Nothing To Hide
Episode Notes
It's most appropriate that this weeks main offering is a review of The Odyssey because Will has been on quite the odyssey himself. He has returned from Australia having been beset by many obstacles. There was a ten euro coffee in Dubai airport, a pizza-eating possum in Sydney, a whole new hemisphere of stars to navigate by and a big banana in Coff's Harbour.
Lorraine, meanwhile, has been keeping the lights on at Pop Filter HQ.
This week, as I say, The Odyssey has been tackled and in an attempt to maintain standards, at least one of our heroes saw the film 'as Nolan intended'.
Does a 79 foot tall screen help or hinder the enjoyment? Will has the answer.
Next up, an opponent as formidable as anything Homer dreamed up: Katie Price.
Nothing to Hide is her four part documentary series currently showing on Sky/NOW TV.
It's a little more than your traditional 'star makes doc about themselves and lets themself off the hook quite a bit' format. Pop Filter are looking at you, Beckham!
It's a rogues gallery of exes, both romantic and business, all coming together to give us a better picture of the artist formerly known as Jordan.
Is it the case that, as novelist John Updike once said, 'Celebrity is a mask that eats into the face'?
This might literally be the best argument for that quote ever.

S1E81 - Obsession & The Invite
Episode Notes
This week, our heroes go on quite the rollercoaster of horror and comedy and sex and obsession. I know, it sounds just like one of Will's Saturday nights but this is the range of topics and genres found between the two films being reviewed in this episode.
First up, it's massive sleeper hit, Obsession. Curry Barker's film tells the story of an infatuated 'nice guy' and how far he will go to get the girl of his dreams.
Will's advice is that if you have to rely on a magical item to make things happen in a relationship, you need to rething your strategy. It's always worked for him as a maxim to live your life by. Lorraine has also approved this as a top point on any young man's checklist when approching a new relationship.
Next up is Lorraine's choice, The Invite.
When ordinary frustrated couple, Joe and Angela, invite their noisy-sex upstairs neighbours for dinner the scene is set for embarrassment and social awkwardness. When the neighbours are named Pina and Hawk, you know it won't be an ordinary evening.

S1E80 - Alice & Steve
Episode Notes
This week, Lorraine & Will examine the adventures of Disney Plus TV show characters, Alice & Steve, and how they deal with the idea of Steve dating Alice's daughter.
Can you tell a funny story about the betrayal of a lifelong friendship and still have engaging and sympatheric characters?
If they're played by Jemaine Clement and Nicola Walker, you can.
Listen to Lorraine and Will take the idea apart as they try and figure out how such a story that would be traumatic in real life can make for an engaging comedy!
Then they have some recommendations for you to enjoy if you're hiding indoors from the heatwave!
Enjoy and let them know you're listening by leaving a review in your podcast provider of choice.
