Let’s Heal Together with Jeremiah Gibson

In this episode of the Post Evangelical Collective Podcast, we are delighted to welcome Jeremiah Gibson, co-founder of Let’s Heal Together, a counseling practice dedicated to helping individuals and couples heal from the impact of high-control religious environments. Jeremiah specializes in relationship and sex therapy, with a particular focus on those navigating faith deconstruction, religious trauma, and the challenges of rebuilding healthy intimacy after leaving restrictive spiritual communities. Jeremiah is also widely known as the co-host of the Sexvangelicals podcast (https://www.sexvangelicals.com/), which he created alongside his colleague and co-founder Julia Postema. Together, they offered what they described as “the sex education the church didn’t want you to have,” helping thousands of listeners untangle harmful teachings about sexuality, relationships, purity culture, and faith. In our conversation, Jeremiah shares insights into the unique challenges faced by couples leaving high-control religious spaces, and what healing can look like when people begin reclaiming their bodies, relationships, and sense of self. Whether you are personally navigating religious trauma, supporting someone who is, or simply interested in creating healthier conversations around sex, faith, and relationships, this episode offers thoughtful guidance, practical wisdom, and plenty of hope. A Place to Rebuild with Chad Moore

Today we get to talk to Chad Moore, Director of Enrollment at the Boston University School of Theology. Chad shares his passion for inviting curious, compassionate, and justice-minded leaders into a vibrant theological community. Many of those connecting with the School of Theology are on a journey similar to those in the Post-Evangelical Collective. They are thoughtful practitioners who have deconstructed former frameworks and are now seeking a safe and generative space to rebuild. Together, they explore what it means to pursue theological education in this cultural moment. Boston University School of Theology offers a context where questions are welcomed, new frameworks can take shape, and students are equipped for ministry rooted in justice and compassion. With a strong and accessible online presence, the School of Theology is able to meet students wherever they are, making this kind of formation available to a wider and more diverse community. This conversation highlights the importance of spaces where leaders can not only rethink their theology, but reimagine their calling. If you are discerning your next step or looking for a place to grow into a more expansive and grounded vision of ministry, this episode offers a compelling invitation. Creating Space for Discernment with Bill White

Today we hear from Bill White, Executive Director of Small Church, Big Table. Their work focuses on helping faith communities navigate one of the most challenging and important questions of our time: how to become more welcoming of LGBTQ people. Rather than pushing a predetermined outcome, Small Church, Big Table creates a space where leaders can engage the process with honesty, courage, and care. Bill shares how churches can move through this discernment in ways that are healthy and non-explosive, even in communities with deeply diverse viewpoints. By learning from others who have walked this road with wisdom and grace, leaders are able to find clarity for their own context. As leaders reimagine ministry beyond evangelicalism, many are asking how to lead communities through change without fracturing relationships. If you are navigating questions of inclusion, unity, and faithful leadership, this episode offers a thoughtful and grounded path forward. Reimagining Formation with Megan Currie and Greg DeLoach

In this episode we sit down with Rev. Megan Currie, Director of Admissions, and Rev. Dr. Greg DeLoach, Dean of McAfee School of Theology at Mercer University. Together, they explore what theological education can look like in this cultural moment. McAfee is committed to creating an inclusive environment where students are free to ask questions, think critically, and be treated with dignity and respect as they discern their calling. They recognize that many students arrive having deconstructed evangelical frameworks. Rather than seeing that as a barrier, McAfee embraces it as part of the journey. Their work is to help students reconstruct a theology that is healthy, generous, and forward thinking for life and ministry. Rooted in the belief that ministry begins with a calling, McAfee seeks to prepare leaders who will inspire the Church and the world to imagine, discover, and create God’s loving and just world. If you are discerning your next step in ministry or reimagining what formation could look like after evangelicalism, this episode offers a compelling vision of what is possible. The Work Within the Work: Race, Faith, and Formation with Collin Packer

In this episode, we talk with Collin Packer, Director of Strategic Development with Let’s Talk Race Ministries. Their work focuses on engaging white Christians in the ministry of reconciliation and justice through education, inner work, and community. In this conversation, Collin names the deep formation required for that work to be authentic and sustained. Together, we explore how many post-evangelical leaders are rethinking not only their theology, but their relationship to race, power, and justice. Collin emphasizes that this is not just intellectual work. It is spiritual and emotional work that requires honesty, humility, and ongoing transformation. This conversation connects directly to the mission of the Post Evangelical Collective. If we are building new expressions of faith and leadership, they must be rooted in both justice and inner work. If you are committed to reconciliation but unsure what faithful engagement looks like in this moment, this episode offers a grounded and challenging path forward. This Cultural Moment with David Gushee

We had the gift of talking with Dr. David Gushee, Distinguished University Professor of Christian Ethics, at Mercer University’s McAfee School of Theology. We explore the growing reality many leaders face after leaving evangelical systems, including the loss of networks, denominations, and long-held partnerships, while still carrying a deep sense of calling. Dr. Gushee speaks to this cultural moment with both clarity and hope. As more exvangelicals search for a place to land, the question is not only what they are leaving behind, but where they are being called next. He points to the Post Evangelical Collective as a path forward. It is a space for thoughtful, justice-oriented leaders to reconnect, collaborate, and continue their work in new ways. He believes this cultural moment is a chance to recenter the moral teachings of Jesus for a new generation. Healing for the Journey with Mallory Wyckoff and Charles Kiser

Today we sit down with Charles Kiser, D.Min, and Mallory Wyckoff, D.Min of the Healing Collective. Together, they explore the deep need for healing among post-evangelical leaders. Many have left systems that shaped them but also wounded them, and yet they continue to carry a call to serve. Charles and Mallory invite us to consider that healing is not optional for this next season of leadership. It is essential. Through integrative practices that engage the body, mind, and spirit, they offer a vision of healing that moves beyond survival and into wholeness. This conversation connects directly to the work of the Post Evangelical Collective. If leaders are going to build something new, they must also tend to what has been broken within them. If you are still called to serve but know there is healing work to do, this episode offers both language and a path forward.
