Powered to Win is the official podcast of Power Champions, featuring conversations with leaders, operators, technicians, and partners across the skilled trades and critical power industry. Power To Win - Episodes 10 - Competitors, Collaborators, Friends - Part 3
In this episode of Powered to Win, host Kyle Michael continues his conversation with Tom Ahrens of PowerStream Solutions, exploring what it takes to grow a company — and a career — without losing sight of the customer, your values, or your purpose.
Tom shares how he views his role as Chief Revenue Officer not simply as driving sales, but as owning the customer experience. He and Kyle discuss why the best growth comes from adding real value, knowing what your company does well, having the discipline to say no when something is not the right fit, and protecting customer trust as the business scales.
The conversation also turns to career development and Tom’s advice for the next generation of power industry professionals: set meaningful goals, know your “must-haves” and “must-nots,” surround yourself with people who will tell you the truth, and focus on the things you can control — effort, attitude, and persistence.
And when Kyle asks what gives a person, team, or company the power to win, Tom brings it back to purpose: understand what winning means, stay focused on adding value, and care deeply about the success of the people you serve.
A great conversation for anyone building a career, leading a team, or growing a business in the critical power industry.

Kyle and Tom also discuss people-first leadership, developing great teams, the increasing speed and scale of critical power projects, and how data centers and AI are reshaping demand for power infrastructure.

Power To Win - Episodes 3 - Leadership in the Energy Industry Pt 2
This week on Powered to Win, host Kyle sits down with co-hosts Ashish (founder and CEO) and Erik Duthie, plus guest Shana Duthie, to talk about why PowerChampions was built and where the backup power industry is headed.
They dig into the coming surge in demand, aging grids, electrification, data centers, and why the real bottleneck is people, not equipment. The team makes the case for partnering with local businesses instead of swallowing them, putting employees first, and winning on one simple principle: keep your promises. As they put it, this industry needs a revolution, not an evolution.

Power To Win - Episodes 2 - Leadership in the Energy Industry Pt 1
A passing of the torch this week on Powered to Win. Our host sits down with Erik Duthie, head of operations at PowerChampions — and the man who gave him his first shot 15 years ago.
Practically born into power generation, Erik Duthie came up through his family's electric-motor shop and has watched the trade evolve from paper-and-pen to modern diagnostics and training. He digs into why generators are everywhere now, why the industry is still short on skilled techs (and how PowerChampions is fixing it), and what makes a true problem-solving technician.
