Agastya Muni's ashram was near Panchavati and Lord Sri Ram made Panchavati his place of residence at the behest of Agastya Muni.When Lord Shri Ram, along with Sita ji and Lakshman ji were going to the ashram of Rishi Agastya, at that time he told the glory of Agastya Muni, how he destroyed the demons named Ilval and Vatapi and how he once drank the entire sea.Today I will tell you the story that Lord Shri Ram had told to Sita and Lakshman.

Ganga is a river whose water cleanses all sins. Ganga is also called Dev-nadi(Holy-river) or Tripatha (त्रिपथा), because Ganga is such a river that flows into the three worlds of Devaloka, PrithviLoka and Patal Lok. Several generations of a family did rigorous penance in bringing Ganga ji to Earth, when mother Ganga came to earth from Devaloka. King Sagara started an effort to bring Mother Ganga to Earth, then his grandson King Anshuman did penance for thirty-two thousand years to bring Mother Ganga to Earth. After that, King Dileep, son of Anshuman also made a lot of efforts to bring Ganga ji to earth. In the end, Raja Bhagiratha, son of King Dilip, was successful. Mother Ganga descended from Devaloka on the earth due to the harsh penance of King Bhagiratha. But do you know that mother Ganga had an ego on her velocity and flow. Today's story is based on the destruction of her ego at the time of the descent of Mother Ganga.
