Many beliefs and assumptions about the human soul result from references in the New Testament, which reflects the Greek understanding of the soul as one's mind, emotions, and will. This emphasis is what we've been left with in Christianity as we know it. But the Hebrew concept of the soul found in the Old Testament is more comprehensive and encompasses the mind, emotions, will, and body. The Hebrew concept of the soul encompasses the body.
