Can You Take Up Your Pastor's Mantle? What The Bible Says
I maintain that the doctrine asserting that pastors can transfer a spiritual "mantle" or anointing to their followers lacks biblical warrant. We demonstrate from the Elijah–Elisha narrative that God sovereignly chose Elisha, that the mantle motif in the text is descriptive rather than prescriptive, and that no continuous human-to-human mantle succession is recorded after Elisha. I argue that subsequent episodes in Scripture, including Elisha’s own death and the apostolic era, show no paradigm of leaders passing on a transferable anointing, and that such teaching risks manipulating congregational service. We insist that believers already possess the Holy Spirit and the written Word, which render the pursuit of a pastor’s alleged mantle unnecessary and theologically unsound. I conclude by urging reverent service to and honor for pastors while repudiating any expectation that proximity to a leader guarantees a promised double portion or spiritual transfer.

I used to serve as an "armor-bearer" in a couple of the churches that I attended back in the day. We never really understood the biblical meaning of armor-bearer.
