Rather than viewing youth as “broken individuals,” this conversation invites us to look at the world around them, understand what they’re experiencing, and consider what they need to thrive. S6 Ep 15 In The Weeds: Prevention Is Not Exclusive
In this week's episode of the PrevenTable, Jenny gets “In The Weeds” with PreventEd Community Strategist Stacie Zellin and Education Program Coordinator Daniel Blunt from St. Louis Oasis. Daniel, a former PreventEd practicum student, now helps design educational programs for older adults at St. Louis Oasis. Stacie, who has spent 11 years at PreventEd, brings prevention education into communities and shares a similar background with Daniel: working with older adults. Together, they highlight an important part of prevention: it doesn’t exclude older adults. Older populations face unique risk factors related to substance use, making education and awareness especially important. With St. Louis Oasis’ focus on empowering older adults through education and PreventEd’s mission to prevent substance use and promote healthy communities, Stacie and Daniel aim to provide a space to connect these shared goals—and keep prevention conversations inclusive at every stage of life.
