You can't think your way out of survival mode

I spent years reading the books, writing the scripts and affirming every morning how I wanted to show up in my motherhood, but my body wouldn't comply until I fixed these things, and this podcast shows you how to get your body on board. This podcast is for you if...You feel irritable and snappy, or you pull away and avoid the people you love, and then carry the guilt of taking it out on them and yourself. You feel touched out, and you can't tell whether you're tired, overwhelmed or just not yourself anymore. You know exactly how you want to show up for your family, but in the moment you just REACT.You're raising a highly sensitive child and feel like you're running on empty while you try to hold them steady. You've tried scripts, affirmations and trying harder, and none of it has stuck. What we talk aboutWe talk about the body, from the gut to the nervous system and hormones, as well as the emotional and energetic story underneath.Nervous system. Why safety is felt in the body, not decided by logic, and what survival mode really looks like in everyday motherhood.Hormones. Cortisol, melatonin, blood sugar and insulin, and how they shape your energy, mood and sleep.Gut. Could Mouth Breathing Be Contributing to Your Exhaustion, Brain Fog and Mum Rage?

In this episode, I'm sharing a recent health rabbit hole that completely changed the way I think about sleep, recovery and the unconscious habits we carry through life. After years of interrupted sleep through motherhood, I was finally sleeping through the night. Yet I was still waking exhausted, with a dry throat, brain fog and reports from my husband that I was snoring all night. That curiosity led me into the world of airway health, mouth breathing and sleep quality. We explore: • Why sleep quantity and sleep quality are not the same thing • The clues I look for when mothers tell me they're exhausted despite sleeping • Mouth breathing, snoring, dry mouth and post-nasal drip • How childhood illness, allergies and chronic congestion can shape breathing habits • Why adaptations can remain long after the original problem has improved • The connection between breathing, recovery and nervous system regulation • Mouth tape and nasal strips: when they may be helpful and when they aren't • Why I'm becoming increasingly interested in airway health as part of the bigger picture of fatigue, brain fog and mum rage This episode isn't about finding one cause for every symptom. It's about becoming curious about the patterns your body may be trying to show you. If you're exhausted despite getting enough sleep, this conversation may offer a new piece of the puzzle. 🔗 Read the companion blog: 🌿 Book a free connection call: daniafoster.com/consults 📱 Follow along: Instagram: @daniafoster.naturopathy

What is PDA? How Do We Support Our Kids Naturally

If your child falls apart the moment you make a simple request, this episode is for you. PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) is not a behaviour problem. It is a nervous system response. And when we treat it like a behaviour problem, we make it worse, even with the best intentions. I share what this looks like in real life with my own child, the meltdowns at acrobatics, the shutdowns at skate lessons, the moment my reminders to drink water created a threat response instead of compliance. I also walk through my clinical approach to supporting PDA children through nervous system regulation, adrenal health, gut-brain connection, flower essences, herbs, and minerals. In this episode: What PDA actually is and why the name matters The three nervous system responses and how they show up in demand avoidance Why your well-intentioned support might be fuelling the meltdowns The "I wonder if…" reframe that changes everything My clinical tools: flower essences, minerals, herbs, gut-brain support Why I treat mothers and children together, not separately Resources mentioned: Read the full blog post: daniafoster.com/blog/pda (daniafoster.com/blog/pda) Mother and Child Package: daniafoster.com/mother-and-child-package (daniafoster.com/mother-and-child-package) Book a free connection call: daniafoster.com/consults (daniafoster.com/consults) About Dania Foster: Dania Foster is a clinical naturopath (BHSc) and energetics therapist specialising in supporting burnt-out mothers and their highly sensitive and neurodivergent children.
