Probation Behavior

About Probation Behavior

Probation Behavior is a true crime podcast hosted by Ally and Abby, exploring cases that caused chaos and captured public attention. With empathy, curiosity, and just enough banter, we break down the story, the psychology, and the public reaction that kept people talking. At the center of every case are real people who should still be here today. We focus on who they were, who loved them, and the lives that were taken too soon. We’re always learning and welcome feedback on how to approach these stories with care and respect. ⏩https://linktr.ee/probationbehavior⏪

29 | Gladys, Ivy & Pauline: The Women of Melbourne’s Brownout

In this episode, Ally covers the murders of Gladys Hosking, Ivy McLeod, and Pauline Thompson in Melbourne, Australia, in 1942. With World War II drawing closer, the city had dimmed its streets to make them harder to spot from the air. Then women began turning up dead. When Gladys’s body was discovered in Royal Park, she was the third woman found murdered in just over two weeks. We follow the investigation through wartime Melbourne while getting to know the women whose lives were taken. Before the case, we talk about the struggle to write an original melody, our inability to finish shows, celebrity blind items, and why bringing a beloved book to the screen means competing with everyone’s imagination. Our TV and movie catch-up includes Tony, The Love Hypothesis, Primetime, Verity, Wuthering Heights, and PEN15. Story starts: 14:08 Shout-out to Ally’s cousin Jake for suggesting this story! 28 | Sherri Rasmussen: A Killer in Plain Sight

In this episode, Abby covers the murder of Sherri Rasmussen, a 29-year-old nursing director who was found dead inside her Los Angeles home in February 1986. Sherri was newly married, thriving in her career, and looking forward to her future when her life was tragically cut short. Investigators initially believed she'd been killed during a burglary gone wrong, but her family wasn't convinced. What followed was a decades-long search for answers, missed opportunities, and a case that would eventually expose deeply troubling investigative failures. Before we get into the case, Ally and Abby are finally reunited after a month apart! We catch up on life and discuss the Cornell University sexual assault allegations, the public response, and why conversations about sexual violence and supporting survivors matter. Story starts: 11:03 Sexual Assault Support Resources: If you or someone you know has experienced sexual assault, free and confidential support is available. 27 | Denise Huskins: The Woman Behind the Blindfold

In this solo episode, Ally covers the story of Denise Huskins, a physical therapist who was taken from Aaron Quinn’s Vallejo home after a terrifying overnight intrusion. When Aaron finally reached police, he described blindfolds, sedatives, recorded instructions, and a ransom demand—but Denise was still missing, and investigators had to decide what, if anything, they believed. As the story grew stranger and national attention descended on the couple, two questions remained: Was Denise alive, and had any of this really happened? Ally tells the story from Denise’s perspective—the woman behind the blindfold. Story starts: 1:45 To support Denise and Aaron, you can read their book, Victim F: From Crime Victims to Suspects to Survivors (https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/617482/victim-f-by-denise-huskins-and-aaron-quinn-with-nicole-weisensee-egan/9780593099964/), and watch the three-part Netflix documentary American Nightmare (https://www.netflix.com/tudum/american-nightmare). Denise and Aaron are also members of the curatorial team behind The Wrong Questions Project (https://thewrongquestionsproject.org/), a survivor-led initiative working to expose and challenge victim-blaming.
