PROCAST BY JOSH is more than just a podcast; it's a community of individuals striving for greatness, and we believe that extraordinary resides within each of us.
So, let's dive into the extraordinary together. Welcome to PROCAST BY JOSH!
In this episode of PROCAST BY JOSH, I talk about one of the most important parts of coaching: knowing when to make a change, and when to leave the plan alone.
When progress slows, the instinct is often to immediately lower calories, add cardio, increase steps or change the training program. But more change doesn’t always mean better progress.
I unpack how I look at these decisions as a coach, why context matters, and why the best plan is the one that actually suits the person in front of you. Sometimes the issue isn’t the target itself, but how well the plan fits around someone’s work, weekends, social life, preferences and habits.
Key topics include:
• When a plateau actually needs action
• Why short term scale changes can be misleading
• The importance of adherence before reducing calories
• Using flexibility to improve consistency
• Why training doesn’t need to change constantly
• Challenging rigid ideas around food and “optimal” approaches
• Making the smallest sensible adjustment when change is needed
• The importance of asking better questions as a coach
• Why good coaching is about adapting to the individual
This episode is a reminder that progress isn’t about constantly doing more. Sometimes the smartest move is to understand the problem properly, make the right adjustment, or simply give the current plan more time to work.

052: A Conversation with Vincent McIvor: More Than the Result
In this episode of PROCAST BY JOSH, I sit down with former client and competitive ballroom dancer Vinnie to talk about the journey behind performance, physique, setbacks and success.
We unpack what life as a competitive dancer actually looks like, the pressure to perform and present a certain physique, and how improving his nutrition helped Vinnie feel better, perform better and build more confidence on the dance floor.
We also talk about the injury setbacks that have kept him away from competition, the importance of his partnership with Zoe, and why stepping away from dancing has only reinforced how much it means to him.
Key topics include:
• The similarities between bodybuilding and competitive dancing
• Balancing physique goals with performance
• Fuelling properly for training and competition
• Body image and the pressure to look the part
• The importance of the right competitive partner
• Navigating injury, surgery and time away from your sport
• Why the journey, people and experiences can matter more than the final result
This was a great conversation about what it really means to pursue something you care about, especially when the path doesn’t go to plan.

051: More to Lose Than You Think
In this episode of PROCAST BY JOSH, I talk about why most people have more body fat to lose than they initially think, and why the number you have in your head often doesn’t match the physique you actually want.
We look at bodyweight, body fat percentage, lean mass, why lighting can change how lean you think you are, and what bodybuilding has taught me about assessing a physique properly.
Key topics include:
• Why losing 5kg often isn’t the finish line
• Body fat percentage vs actual fat mass
• Why lean body mass changes how you look
• Using the scale without becoming attached to a number
• Why your desired look matters more than an arbitrary goal weight
The goal isn’t to get as light as possible. It’s to understand what the numbers mean, use them as tools, and keep assessing your progress based on how you actually look, feel and perform.
