«بایادر» بمعنای رقصندهی معبد، نام بالهی ملودرامی است که توسط ماریوس پتیپا، طراح رقص فرانسوی، بر اساس داستانی هندی، بر روی موسیقی لودویگ مینکس ساخته، و برای اولین بار در ۱۸۷۷ در سنپطرزبورگ با هنرمندی «اکاترینا وازم» بالرین روسی، در نقش «نیکیا» بروی صحنه رفت. گفته میشود این باله، آخرین اثر حزنانگیز پتیپا و در عینحال اولین شاهکار از سری بالههای برجستهی اوست. به ویژه صحنه ای از این باله که معروف به The Kingdom of the Shades هست، به یکی از مشهورترین قطعات در باله کلاسیک تبدیل شد و همچنان گاهی بعنوان یک نمایش مستقل به اجرا درمیآید.
