Svend Erik Petersen levede et godt liv i det vestjyske med sin familie og troede, han havde fundet sit kald. Men en eftermiddag i september 1988 vendte en ildrød annonce i det tidligere DEM-blad hans liv på hovedet. Det blev starten på et helt nyt kapitel i hans og familiens liv.
