Where do people who struggle with homosexuality belong in the church? That question might make some of us uncomfortable, but avoiding it does not make it disappear. This week's message tackled one of the most controversial issues of our time with honesty, compassion, and the full truth of Scripture.
The answer is not found in a church that locks people out, nor in one that throws the doors wide open with no regard for God's truth. It is found in the narrow door -- where every sinner, regardless of the sin, is welcomed on God's terms through faith in Jesus Christ. Moses, David, and Paul were all murderers. God redeemed them anyway and used them mightily.
The gospel is clear: there are no good guys except God alone (Mark 10:18). We are all sinners in need of the same grace. True love holds people accountable AND walks with them.

Bring Them Up
Parenting is one of the most humbling callings we will ever face. When Paul gives instructions regarding the Christian household, Paul's words cut both ways. Children are called to obey their parents in the Lord because that authority is designed for their good. But fathers are equally called to lead without provoking, bringing their children up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord with the goal of forming wisdom and maturity, not just demanding obedience.
The ultimate hope here is not that we get parenting perfectly right. It is that we all stand under the same perfect Father, who through Christ has adopted us as sons and daughters, extending grace where we fall short. That gospel is the foundation for everything that happens in a Christian home.

Nobody Gets a Kingdom
What if marriage was never meant to be about who holds the most power, but about who is willing to give the most away? In Ephesians 5, Paul paints a picture of two lives becoming one flesh, and it looks nothing like a corporate org chart. It looks like the cross.
The wife is called to a real and comprehensive yielding of her whole self to the one-flesh union. The husband is called to spend himself entirely for that same union, just as Christ gave himself up for the church. Different commands, same destination. Nobody gets a kingdom.
Philippians 2 shows us the posture behind it all: count others more significant than yourselves, look not only to your own interests. That is the heart of a Christian marriage, and it is a picture of the gospel on display for the world to see.
