   Josh Gilbert

For more than 20 years, Chattanooga musician Josh Gilbert has been creating, performing, and sharing original music across the Southeast and beyond. Now, he’s the latest local artist to be featured on The Proximity Playlist with Gino D, the Hits 96 series and podcast dedicated to highlighting talented musicians from our community. The Proximity Playlist is brought to by WanderLinger… Where Local Flavor Meets Community. Located right in the heart of Downtown on Station Street. Get their menu, beer selection, events, and more at WANDERLINGER.COM (https://www.wanderlinger.com/) Josh’s musical journey began right here in Chattanooga, where he first started playing music alongside his brother and cousin in the rock trio, Jettison Never. What started as a local project eventually grew into years of touring, performances across the United States, and a lifelong passion for songwriting and live music. Over the years, Josh has continued to evolve as an artist, blending influences from rock, blues, Americana, folk, and alternative music into a sound that is uniquely his own. Today, Josh performs regularly throughout the region, often bringing an acoustic approach that highlights his guitar work, storytelling, and soulful style. He’s also passionate about building community through music and is one of the organizers behind The Union Chattanooga, a group that supports faith-based musicians, songwriters, and church music leaders through fellowship, creativity, and encouragement. Josh recently released his first blues-inspired single, “Lightning And Thunder,” and plans to follow it with a 70s-influenced classic rock song titled “Hitch A Ride” later this year. Hear Josh share stories from his musical journey, discuss his songwriting process, and talk about what inspires him today in the latest episode of The Proximity Playlist. You'll also hear his songs, Lightning And Thunder, Sweet Little Place, and Last Goodbye. Ivey Leighton

What can happen in three years? For Chattanooga singer-songwriter Ivey Leighton, the answer is… quite a lot. Ivey played her first open mic at 21, and since then, her music career has picked up some serious momentum. She’s gone from performing locally and landing a residency to releasing her debut single, “Good Girl”. On this episode of The Proximity Playlist with Gino D, Ivey talks about that whirlwind journey and what it’s been like watching something she’s always wanted to do finally become a real career. Ivey describes her sound as “confessional pop rock,” blending alternative pop and pop rock with strong hooks, storytelling, and songs that can be playful while still being emotionally honest. We also dig into her songwriting process, which often starts with a guitar or piano. Her inspiration often comes from everyday moments and the little thoughts or experiences that might otherwise go unnoticed. Her debut single, “Good Girl,” is a sarcastic take on the toxic expectations placed on women, while two unreleased songs—“Nice Girl” and “Stupid Genius”—show some of the different directions her music can take. Ivey also opens up about performing, connecting with listeners, the growing Chattanooga music scene, the challenges of social media, and her hopes for the future—including releasing music consistently, playing bigger venues, touring, collaborating with artists, and eventually making music full-time. Most of all, this conversation is about what it feels like to watch a lifelong interest suddenly start turning into a career—and why Ivey is just getting started. Listen to the latest episode of The Proximity Playlist featuring Ivey Leighton, and get to know one of Chattanooga’s emerging singer-songwriters. Dock Party

Four friends. One hometown. A shared love of music that started long before they ever called themselves a band. On this episode of The Proximity Playlist with Gino D, we’re introducing you to Dock Party — a Chattanooga group made up of Henry Clark, Stuart Brown, Colin Sanders, and Sid Cheemakoti. The Proximity Playlist is brought to by WanderLinger (https://www.wanderlinger.com/)… Where Local Flavor Meets Community. Located right in the heart of Downtown on Station Street. Get their menu, beer selection, events, and more at WANDERLINGER.COM. (https://www.wanderlinger.com/) Now serving BRUNCH Saturdays and Sundays! Dock Party’s story starts right here in Chattanooga, where all four members grew up and developed their musical roots. After years of playing music in different ways — including a shared experience in a classical guitar group during their time at McCallie School — the chemistry was already there when Dock Party began to take shape. Since then, the group has grown from playing smaller shows to becoming part of the larger Chattanooga music community, including a memorable appearance at Riverfront Nights. Their sound is all about creating a feeling. Drawing inspiration from artists like The Backseat Lovers, Flipturn, Winyah, and Briston Maroney, Dock Party blends energetic performances with songs designed to take listeners somewhere else. Whether they’re creating something upbeat and nostalgic or something more atmospheric, the goal remains the same: make music that connects with people. On this episode, we talk about how Dock Party came together, what it’s like balancing music while attending college in different cities, their experience growing as a local band, and what’s next — including their upcoming Riverfront Nights performance this Saturday, July 25th. You’ll also hear the stories behind three of their songs: “Drugstore,” “Space Suit“, and “Fiamma.” Follow Dock Party on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/dockpartyband/) and Spotify (https://open.spotify.com/artist/0ed30XdrLZ7VtbQ0EIInMJ) for their latest updates!
