<p>துருக்கியைப் பூர்வீகமாகக்கொண்ட ‘ஐஷீகுள் சவாஸ்’ என்ற எழுத்தாளர் எழுதிய ’The Anthropologists’ என்ற நாவலைப்பற்றி இம்முறை உரையாடியிருக்கிறோம்.</p><p>சென்ற வருடம் வாசித்தவற்றுள் எனக்கு மிகவும் பிடித்த நூல் இது. புதிய வடிவம். ஒரு புதிய நகரிலே (அது பாரிசாக இருக்கலாம்) இளம் தம்பதி ஒன்று எப்படி வாழ்வை ஆரம்பிக்க முனைகிறது என்ற எளிமையான களத்தைக் கொண்ட நாவல் இது. ஆசியாவும் மானுவும் புதிய நகரில் தாம் குடியிருக்க சிறு வீடு ஒன்றைத் தேடுகிறார்கள். நகரில் நண்பர்களை உருவாக்குகிறார்கள். பூங்காகளில் உலாவுகிறார்கள். மேல் வீட்டு பாட்டியோடு நட்பாகிறார்கள். ரவி என்கின்ற நண்பனோடு கஃபேகளிலும் மதுபான விடுதிகளிலும் காலத்தைப் போக்குகிறார்கள். ஆசியா தன்னுடைய கற்கை நெறிக்காக ஆவணப்படம் ஒன்றுக்கான காணொளிகளைத் தயாரிக்கிறாள். அதற்காக பல்வேறு விடயங்களைப் பதிவு செய்கிறாள். ஆசியாவின் பார்வையில்தான் நாவல் நகர்கிறது. அவள் தன்னைப் பார்ப்பது, மற்றவர்களைப் பார்ப்பது, சூழலையும் வாழ்வினையும் பார்ப்பது, கனவுகள் காண்பது என்ற ஒருவித navalgazing நாவல் இது. மிக இயல்பான, அதிர்ச்சிகளும் திருப்பங்களும் இல்லாத, வாழ்வின் அன்றாட சலனங்களைப் பதிவுகளால் நிறைத்த நூல். A pleasant and thought provoking piece.</p><p>நியூ யோர்க்கர் சஞ்சிகையில் சவாஸ் முன்னர் எழுதிய ‘Future selves’ சிறு கதைதான் இப்போது ’The Anthropologists’ என்கின்ற நாவலாக விரிவடைந்திருக்கிறது. நான் அச்சிறுகதையையும் வாசித்திருக்கிறேன். அச் சிறுகதை எப்படி புதிய வடிவத்தைக் கொண்ட இந்நாவலாக மாறியது என்பதை உணரும்போது ஆச்சரியமும் புன்னகையும் தோன்றியது. சவாசுக்கு எழுத்துப் பற்றிய எந்த அவசரங்களோ பதட்டங்களோ இல்லை என்பதையும் உணர்ந்துகொள்ளவும் முடிந்தது.</p><p>சொல்லப்போனால் ஒவ்வொரு எழுத்தாளர்களுமே ஒரு வகையில் ‘anthropoligists’தான். வாசிக்கும் கணத்தில் வாசிப்பவருக்கும் அந்நோய் தொற்றிவிடுகிறது. எழுத்தினதும் வாசிப்பினதும் அற்புதம் இது.</p>
