Online kinderrechten: Hoe bescherm je kinderen in de digitale wereld?

Sociale media heeft een donkere kant: van verslaving tot blootstelling aan schadelijke content en het risico op mentale gezondheidsproblemen. In verschillende landen, waaronder Australië en Nederland, worden er steeds strengere regels voorgesteld om kinderen beter te beschermen tegen de gevaren van sociale media. Maar wat zijn online kinderrechten precies? Hoe kunnen we kinderen beschermen zonder hun rechten op privacy en vrijheid van informatie in gevaar te brengen? Kirsten Verdel, partner bij Publyon, gaat in gesprek met Sophia, consultant op het gebied van digitaal onderwijs, en Leander, consultant lead van het tech team van Publyon. Ze bespreken de wettelijke kaders die kinderen al beschermen, de risico’s van sociale media, en de rol van ouders, scholen en de overheid in het beschermen van kinderen online. Ook wordt de vraag besproken hoe we het evenwicht kunnen bewaren tussen bescherming en het recht op digitale vrijheid.
