   Double Down | Pull Party #46

   Paul said Midnight Spider-Man was garbage. The comic book internet got mad. Now Robert and Paul have a whole lot to say about it. On Episode 46 of Pull Party, we're addressing the backlash to Paul's brutally honest review of Marvel's Midnight Spider-Man. Is it rage bait if you genuinely think a comic book is bad? Why do fans defend their favorite creators like they're family members? And why is having a negative opinion about a comic book apparently a crime against humanity? Paul breaks down what he thinks went wrong with Midnight Spider-Man, from its familiar origin story to its cartoonish villain and questionable storytelling choices. Meanwhile, Robert helps sort through the comments, the legitimate criticisms, and the internet weirdness. We also compare the storytelling in Absolute Batman with Marvel's new Midnight Universe, discuss whether Midnight Fantastic Four and Midnight X-Men have more interesting concepts, and get into the expanding Absolute Universe. Then it's over to DC Comics for a look at Gangs of Gotham, Anarchy, Teen Titans, Robin, Stephanie Brown, and some of the character decisions that have us asking what the hell DC is doing.
