Episode 126: Research is a team sport

In this episode of Pulse, sudden cardiac arrest survivor Phil Nicholson and physician and researcher Dr. Christian Vaillancourt share how lives are saved when patients, families, healthcare teams, researchers, and communities work together. Phil tells the story of the day his heart stopped and healthcare workers at The Ottawa Hospital brought him back, while Dr. Vaillancourt explains the life-saving power of bystander CPR, and how new innovations, including artificial intelligence, could help save thousands more lives each year. It's an inspiring conversation and a powerful reminder that advancing healthcare takes more than science alone. Through humour, honesty, and lived experience, Phil and Dr. Vaillancourt show how collaboration is transforming cardiac arrest survival and helping build a stronger chain of survival for all.
