Navy Seal BUD/S To NYPD Bomb Squad

From BUD/S to the Bomb Squad: The Cop Who Walked Alone Into Times Square Steve went from accountant to NYPD cop, took a military leave in the middle of his career to try out for BUD/S, and made it through Hell Week before his heart went into AFib during one of the hardest underwater tests in training. He fought his way back, graduated BUD/S with Class 322, and was months from his first SEAL team when he was medically retired. He came back to the NYPD, earned his way onto the Bomb Squad, and found himself walking alone in a bomb suit through Times Square and four levels beneath a crowded transit station. Then, at 14 years on the job, he walked away to follow his purpose: helping first responders and military families take control of their finances. In this episode, we get into: 🔹 Why he chose the toughest precinct he could find as a rookie 🔹 The newsstand moment that sent him to BUD/S 🔹 What Hell Week, drown-proofing, and second phase really demand 🔹 The heart scare, the med board, and losing the dream he trained for 🔹 Life on the NYPD Bomb Squad, and what patrol cops should do when they find a suspicious package 🔹 Why he left the job at 14 years 🔹 How cops can protect themselves from bad financial advice, and the one question to ask every advisor 📚 Books mentioned The Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill 🎙️ Purpose Over Pension is a podcast for law enforcement officers and first responders, built on faith, love, health, and wealth. Violent Off-Duty Incident Changed NYPD Cops Life

Jumped Off Duty: The Night That Changed Everything August 30, 2014. 4:35 in the morning. Off duty and running on no sleep after a full tour, Krute walks into a Bronx bodega to grab baby wipes for his infant daughter. His phone is dead in the car. No radio, no cuffs, no backup. And three men follow him to the back of the store. What happened over the next seven minutes changed the way he saw his training, his faith, and his life. Krute has lived several lives: a Thai-Chinese kid bullied in the South Bronx, a Marine who deployed to Al Anbar, an NYPD cop who spent two years on Impact in the busiest precinct in the city, a Buddhist monk walking barefoot through northern Thailand for alms, Army special operations, and a Portland cop elected union VP in the middle of 100+ days of riots. In this episode he breaks down what each chapter taught him, including the special operations selection he quit, only to learn the finish line was at the top of the very hill he walked away from. We also get real about what the job costs: moving across the country for a "dream house" and steady days, then coming home to an empty house. Falling in love with the image of being a father instead of being one. Making the badge your identity. And how he rebuilt, as a dad, a man of faith, and a career coach helping cops find their next chapter before they burn out. If you've ever wondered who you are without the uniform, this is the episode. WHAT WE COVER • The off-duty night that changed everything • Growing up Thai-Chinese in the South Bronx • Joining the Marines because his best friend did • Two years on Impact in the 4-4 • Why 90% of policing is verbal • East Coast vs. West Coast policing • Becoming a Buddhist monk in Thailand • Suffering, attachment, and Christianity • Quitting at the top of the hill • Leaving NYPD for Portland, then the George Floyd riots • Coming home to an empty house • "I fell in love with the image of being a father" • 3 steps to prepare to leave the job in 6 months • Why you should never job hunt when you hate your job CONNECT WITH KRUTE Instagram: @[handle] Website: eastcoastcareer.com 📲 Connect with Lenny: Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/purposeoverpension/ TikTok – https://www.tiktok.com/@purposeoverpension?_t=ZP-8yvXjeYqxSg&_r=1 Facebook – https://www.facebook.com/lenny.bradley.12/ Email: contact@purposeoverpension.com Purpose Over Pension is a podcast for law enforcement officers and first responders who want to build a life bigger than the job — faith, family, fitness, finances, and purpose. Demon Deliverance, Real Estate Investing and Policing In The Bronx

Ilya came to America from a Russian housing block where eight families shared one bathroom. He joined the NYPD, made felony collars as a rookie, and got punished for it. He was drinking before roll call, running a burner phone for the women, and gambling in Atlantic City on his RDOs. He requested a post in the 4-6 for the summer — the same post Officer Miosotis Familia was assassinated on the next night. He retired at eight years. Built a real estate business. Made more than the chief of the department. Bought the Mercedes, the watches, the custom home in the Dominican Republic. And he says he has never felt emptier in his life. Then his son fell into a coma. His marriage collapsed. His business partners took everything. And in the middle of the wreckage he heard a voice say: *"I allowed you to crash — but now I'm going to build you back up, and I'll be your foundation."* Today he runs an international ministry and prays deliverance over people. In this conversation he talks about what he thinks we were really looking at on some of those EDP jobs — and he answers the guys who are already calling him crazy. This one is for every cop who hit the pension and still felt like something was missing. 00:00 Retiring from the NYPD 00:20 Hitting rock bottom 00:57 Crying out to God 01:31 Demons and deliverance 01:48 Welcome to the podcast 02:24 Opening in prayer 03:28 From millionaire to faith 05:38 Growing up in Russia 07:50 Moving to America 10:18 Becoming an NYPD officer 11:09 From troublemaker to cop 13:54 Selling drugs and hustling 19:02 The Russian discipline 20:48 First years in the 52 23:02 A wild arrest 26:17 Getting in trouble for doing the job 28:26 Transfer to the 44 30:52 A close call with a gun 31:53 Domestic violence call 34:38 Justice system frustration 35:04 Recognizing God's protection 37:41 Mental and spiritual toll 39:55 Coping with sin 42:01 NYPD's dark culture 46:48 The need to be vulnerable 47:04 Getting married for the wrong reasons 48:01 Double life and gambling 53:00 Caught cheating 54:08 Psych evaluation 57:24 Rebuilding through boxing 01:01:41 Searching for a new path 01:04:22 I quit the NYPD 01:07:15 First real estate deals 01:10:25 My mentor's advice 01:12:59 Close call with death 01:14:32 The decision to retire 01:18:20 The golden handcuffs 01:21:34 Resisting the FDNY 01:23:01 The pride before the fall 01:25:53 Still feeling empty 01:27:36 Realizing God is real 01:29:01 Baby Christian signs 01:31:11 Moving to the Dominican Republic 01:33:40 My son's coma 01:36:30 God's voice in the storm 01:40:30 Falling back into sin 01:43:40 Caught red-handed 01:45:16 God's message: I allowed you to crash 01:46:46 Preparing for the prayer 01:48:48 Spiritual attack before breakthrough 01:50:44 Fighting temptation and rebuking the devil 01:53:06 Giving my life to Jesus 01:55:29 The God Glock name 01:57:02 The verse that changed my life 01:58:47 Reuniting through Christ 02:00:35 Brothers in Christ 02:02:22 Kingdom partnership 02:04:00 A new chapter in coaching 02:06:12 Spiritual warfare is real 02:09:10 A child possessed 02:10:53 Memorable deliverance 02:15:27 Freemasonry and the NYPD 02:17:43 Exposing the darkness 02:20:00 Deliverance in the Dominican Republic 02:22:20 What about the skeptics? 02:23:41 The battle is real 02:28:00 How demons enter 02:30:10 A message to police officers 02:32:03 Continuing the conversation 02:34:03 My wife's baptism in the Spirit 02:36:44 Grateful for transformation 02:38:44 Purpose over pension 02:39:50 Where to find me 02:42:34 Final prayer **CONNECT WITH ILYA** Instagram: @ilya_the_evangelist YouTube: @ilyatheevangelist For prayer, deliverance, or real estate mentorship — reach out on Instagram.
