Podcast Overview

This is a place for those who have been hurt, confused, overlooked, broken, and wondered, “Why did this have to happen?”. Here we find meaning in the moments that tried to break us. What felt like a burden was really an assignment, and every season that stretched us, was shaping us. Nothing that happened was random—it had purpose.

Each episode leans into real life: betrayal, heartbreak, loss, disappointment, waiting, and unexpected pain. Yet, through every story, we uncover the same truth—God was present, intentional, and working behind the scenes. The things we thought were setbacks were actually setups. The battles were building us. The cross wasn’t a mistake; it was part of the mission.

This podcast invites listeners to reflect, heal, and grow. We explore how Jesus was crossed on purpose, and how our own lives echo that same pattern: pressure with a purpose, pain with a promise, and purpose hidden in the process. We don’t avoid the hard questions—we walk through them together with faith, honesty, and hope. If life has ever cut deep, if you’ve ever been crossed by people you trusted, or if your journey has felt heavy and confusing, this space reminds you:

You weren’t abandoned. You were assigned. There was purpose in every step.

Welcome to the conversation.

EP 09 “How Sexual Sin Holds You Hostage” | Purposely Crossed

On this week's episode, Jae discusses the discomfort of addressing a sensitive topic, and the conviction she experienced to talk about it. Sexual immorality can have a great affect on one's life, and in this case Jae shares how it started in her childhood, led to enslavement, lustful addiction, spiritual blindness, and many other strongholds. The importance of transparency and deliverance from sexual sin is emphasized, along with the spiritual significance of being hidden in Christ, rather than hiding in crisis. This episode is "unorthodox" and doesn't agree with the ways of culture, but is Biblically sound, and rooted in faith.

_You are not alone.

If you're struggling with sexual immorality or sexual addiction, please know that you are not alone and there is no shame in seeking help. God's grace is sufficient, and healing is possible through him.

If you need someone to talk to, reach out confidentially at ( jcn@purposelycrossed.com ).

Takeaways

The impact of sexual immorality goes beyond personal guilt and shame, it can affect spiritual intimacy and clarity of purpose.

Transparency is essential for maintaining deliverance.

Some Key Verses to study:

-1 Corinthians 6:12-20

-Colossians 3-5

Chapters

00:00 The Uncomfortable Conversation

11:41 The Impact of Sexual Immorality

20:19 Enslavement to Sexual Sin

27:01 The Spiritual Impact of Sexual Sin

33:26 Transparency and Deliverance

Subscribe to Purposely Crossed's newsletter:

https://www.purposelycrossed.com

To sow and support Purposely Crossed's work and ministry:

https://donate.stripe.com/dRmaEY6Nl1CHblvdcG5Ne02

Stay Connected with Purposely Crossed:

Follow Jae IG: @TheJaeNickerson

Follow Purposely Crossed IG: @PurposelyCrossedPod

• Linktree: linktr.ee/thejaenickerson

• YouTube: youtube.com/@thejaenickerson
