Christian får endelig svaret på, hvorfor hans mor ikke har lært ham at tale grønlandsk. Svaret er tæt forbundet med Danmarks kolonisering af Grønland. Hvordan kan en 300 år gammel begivenhed have den konsekvens, at Christian og hans mormor aldrig kunne tale sammen?

Da Christian er omkring 8 år gammel bliver han kaldt Qallunaaq, der betyder dumme dansker. Da han er 16 år og kommer på efterskole i Danmark, møder han danske fordomme om grønlændere og skal bl.a. svare på, om der er internet, og man bor i iglo i Grønland. Hvor hører han til?

At være født og opvokset blandt isbjerge og sne i Grønland betyder ikke, at man taler det grønlandske sprog. Hvorfor taler så mange unge i Nuuk ikke grønlandsk? Christian undrer sig og ender på en rejse, der tager ham 300 år tilbage i tiden, hvor han møder telefonsælgeren Hans.
