July 2018. Steve’s my second interview. I have no idea what I'm doing, but I'm excited anyway. We meet in a park, soak in some rays, chat, get interrupted by a phone call that causes me to lose part of the recording, and all around have a dope time.

November 2018. Kris's home is near a Cafe Rio I guess, because the GPS from the app I use keeps naming the audio files from the interview as "Cafe Rio". What the GPS doesn't know is that we're in Kris's living room, post dinner (chili and cornbread), and with a cat that just wants their Porg and some love. I relate heavily.

October 2018. I've come up to Idaho to hear the stories of my Rexburg family, who don't always get a lot of love. Being Queer in Rexburg can be a very special kind of torture. Today I was seeing fellow Queerstake moderator Kaitlyn. After initially starting in a library, we made our way to a Taco Bell after finding out the library closes early on weekends. It was like every other Taco Bell; cold plastic interior and delicious food you'll regret eating at some point. Nobody bothered us.

July 2018. We're in David's hotel room trying to escape the heat. It's exciting to meet him; we've known each other since before the inception of the #Queerstake community on tumblr and this is our first time conversing in person. He's wearing a Batman t-shirt done in the style of Vincent van Gogh's Starry Night, which reminds me of his tumblr username (nerdygaymormon).

1. Scott - "There Are Some Ups & Downs To Our Story..."
TW: Sexual assault, rape
July 2018. The setting is Scott's closet. Scott is a gay post-Mormon who I've known for almost four years, and we're sitting in the closet to get the best sound for the recording. It's intimate. It's the sort of thing two close friends can do together and not feel uncomfortable about. I take a quick look around at the clothes he has hung up and recognize a few things I 'd given him two years earlier, before my move to Chicago, and I see other clothes of his that I recognize. It's comforting and familiar, even if it's only cloth. I've missed this guy.
