Competition
Whether it be fighting for a first place trophy, battling to the bone for class rank one, or aspiring to start the most successful diaper company, life, to say the least, is a competition. Last week we examined the issue of pride and praise, bringing to light a new discussion on the matter of competition.
This week we pick up right where we left off on the issue of competition, and question the answer: competition always promotes progress in society. This week, we dismantle competition at both a societal and at an individual level, discussing our viewpoint on the fairness of the system of hierarchy as well as how we as individuals should approach competition. This week we talk about whether it’s more important to work for the sake of gaining pride in one’s self, or if it’s more important to work for the reward of praise from others.
