S2 E8: Radio Hosting & Friendships
Hi guys,
This episode Hani and I hit the Stu!!!
We look back at our experience over the summer as Radio co-hosts and draw from what we've learnt and things we've taken from it. We also talk about the inevitable process of maintaining and losing friendships in your 20's. We wouldn't be Hani and Yas if we did not share anecdotal tales of our friendships over the years and share a few words of wisdom.
Give it a listen and let us know your thoughts.
As always, stay blessed and in good health x

S2 E7: Cambridge & Dictatorships
Hello, my lovelies, In this episode Hani and I bring you along on our catch up session and talk about where we've been, our new obsessions as of late and play a little game that we call 'Under Our Dictatorship'; it's a lighthearted game where we discuss what stays and what goes. We put you on shows that we have been watching and look a little deeper into what shows like You and Maid on Netflix really mean. And lastly, we wouldn't be Yas and Hani if we didn't talk about current affairs in this episode.
Our recommendations:
Netflix shows: - Maid - You - Hometown Cha Cha (Kdrama)
Book: Brexitland by Maria Sobolewska and Robert W. Ford
As always I pray you guys are in the best of spirits and good health. Thank you for continuing to support us. - Y

S2 EP6: Rejection & Confidence Building
Welcome back to another episode! What did you guys think about the intro? This episode focuses on why we experience rejection, how it's affected us academically and personally, as well as discussing solutions. We offer advice not only from our personal experience but also from drawing on Islamic teachings. Please feel free to contact us if you want further elaborations on any of the points discussed, and we'll get back to you soon.
Hadith narrated by Umar Ibn Khattab: 'What has come to you could not miss you and that what has missed you could not come to you'. Sunan Abi Dawud 4699 N.B. A common quote known is 'What is destined for you will reach you even if it is beneath two mountains. What isn't destined for you won't reach you even if it is between your two lips' however, this is neither a Quranic ayah nor is it a Hadith. Simply a quote. Apologies for stating it as a Hadith! In Islam, it's important to show daleel (source) when quoting from the Quran or Hadith. This was an error on my part—apologies for that. Nonetheless, the Hadith corrected above still stands in what I was trying to articulate.

We discuss fast fashion trends, timeless staple pieces and the return of y2k/street style as well as the importance of ethical consumption and ways to recycle clothes that you no longer want.

S2 E2: Self Development And The Dark Side Of Shadow Work
Asalamu'alaykum to our listeners. For starters, I would like to wish you all a Ramadan Mubarak!!
The second episode of season 2 will have me take a solo episode where I do an audio diary entry and talk a bit about what I have been up to, where I have been mentally and put you on my new obsessions as of late.
As Ramadan will be approaching us tonight, I thought this would be the perfect time to self-reflect and just talk a bit more about personal growth.
I'd love to have a part two, where Hani and I talk about self-awareness in depth insha'Allah.

Episode 9: We Took Berlin - Studying and Living Alone
On the second last episode of this season, we talk all things Berlin.
For the second year of our course, we had the privilege of completing it abroad as part of an exchange programme at our university.
We talk about the application process, interview stage, our expectations before arriving, discussing how we adapted and assimilated into the German culture. We look back in hindsight on how we had to navigate ourselves in a new space, discovering ourselves, making friendships and how we kept up all while studying abroad.
We end on the feedback we would give to our home university, our host university and advice we would give to people wanting to study abroad.
I hope you guys really resonate with what is being discussed, I hope this inspires you to pursue what is in your heart of hearts and be fearless in dreaming.
As always stay blessed and stay safe!!

Episode 7: Shaax Session - Injustice and Islam
Asalamu'alaykum guys,
On the 7th episode, Yasmin had a guest speaker and talked about the never-ending issue of social injustice happening around the world, more specifically in the United States.
With it being a sensitive topic for black people all over the world, we wanted to be introspective and examine the continuous racial inequalities happening by looking into the triggering of the global protests taking place.
We openly criticise the Minneapolis Police Department and their lack of holding Derek Chauvin and the other 3 officers accountable. Not enough was done and we encouraged for all forms of protests - passive, peaceful, assertive or aggressive- whichever!!!!
As a community, we need to come together and fight against any form of injustice and oppression; particularly one done by tyranny governments. We honed in on the teachings of Islam and looked at things from another perspective to help us understand better.
We welcome all forms of feedback, opinions and discussions.
Please feel free to contact us via our contact info and as always stay safe my lovelies!!!!
