Who ever said Monaco was boring?

This week, Tubs and Kobs are fired up, and for good reason. The weekend delivered chaos, clutch moments, and enough drama to fuel a full episode. They break down Kimi's absolutely dominant fifth consecutive win, Denny Hamlin's back-to-back victories, and what it all means for the sport. Oh, and they find time to revel in the slow, agonizing, deeply satisfying collapse of the Hall Monitor.

Listen wherever you get your podcasts and follow us on social media.

Rest in Peace Kyle Busch & The Mercedes Meltdown

In Todays Episode, We discuss:

NASCAR: The sport is mourning the loss of two-time Cup Series champion Kyle Busch, who passed away on May 21 at 41 after a sudden health crisis. Just days before his death, Busch had secured his record-extending 69th NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series win at Dover Motor Speedway. Daniel Suárez went on to win the Coca-Cola 600, the first Cup race following Busch's passing, and honored him in victory lane. Kyle Busch's wife and kids made their first public appearance at the 600, breaking down in tears during a moment of silence.

Formula 1: Mercedes is dominating the 2026 season, but the tension between their two drivers is becoming a major storyline. Mercedes leads the constructors' championship by 70 points, having won every grand prix so far in 2026, with Kimi Antonelli currently leading George Russell in the drivers' standings. The rivalry boiled over at the Canadian Grand Prix, where Russell retired with a power unit failure while Antonelli went on to win his fourth consecutive race and extend his championship lead to 43 points. Antonelli expressed frustration after their on-track battles, saying he came away from internal Mercedes team meetings with a different understanding of how Russell would defend his position. Team boss Toto Wolff is now walking a fine line, acknowledging that while he's willing to let them race, he would not hesitate to turn things down a notch if team points were seriously at risk.

Has F1 Returned? Plus, a Texas Hold 'Em in NASCAR

In F1, Kimi Antonelli won his third straight race at the Miami Grand Prix, holding off Lando Norris, with Oscar Piastri rounding out the podium. It was a dramatic one — Verstappen spun early, and Leclerc hit the wall on the final lap trying to fight for a podium spot. Over in NASCAR, Chase Elliott took the Würth 400 at Texas Motor Speedway, edging Denny Hamlin by just 0.407 seconds for his second win of the 2026 season. Several contenders including Logano, Larson, and Bell all had rough days and failed to finish.

IG: @racecontrolpodYoutube: @TheRaceControlPodcastTikTok: @theracecontrolpod
