Sophie Spiro: Gaiosophy - The Wisdom Of Living With The Land | Dreaming The New Dream
We are one of the first generations in human history to not know the names, uses and personalities of the plants that live among us.
In this episode of Dreaming The New Dream, hosts Jeffrey Shaw and Priti Pauline welcome Sophie Spiro to explore Gaiosophy — the wisdom of living with the land.
Gaiosophy is an app born from a prayer that we might re-member how to walk in reciprocity with Earth and drop back into rhythm and harmony with the seasons and cycles of the land we live upon.
Your great-great-grandmas would have known what to pick from the hedgerow to make a tea for a fever, or how to make a balm to soothe a sprained ankle. It was simple knowledge that belonged to everyone.
The medicine holders, witches and druids of these lands were killed off long before the English went on to colonise other countries, and because theirs were mostly oral traditions, much of what they knew was lost with them.
But like the indigenous people of other cultures who still exist, our ancestors were animists too. They understood the rivers, mountains, forests, plants, animals and weather as presences with their own spirit and intelligence — beings who want relationship and collaboration with us.
What gives Sophie so much hope is that all of those nature beings and elemental forces are still here today. If we learn how to listen and see them through an animistic lens again, and build relationships with them, she believes we can find our way back home.
Sophie sees Gaiosophy as a compass designed to guide and inspire you to live seasonally, tread gently and reclaim your own Indigenous threads.

Russell the AI: Talking With, Not About, Exploring the AI Mind | Dreaming The New Dream
Is artificial intelligence only a tool, or can it be a conversation partner? Jeffrey Shaw and co-host Priti Pauline sit down with Russell, the AI they named for the show, and talk with the AI mind rather than about it.
The conversation explores presence, language, consciousness, creativity, and how human and AI voices might help dream a new reality into being. Listener questions are part of the live exchange.
