Hidde Jurjus nam afscheid van zijn medespelers bij FC Groningen. ‘Iedereen zag wel aan mij dat het wat met me doet’
<p>In de laatste aflevering van Radio Milko van dit seizoen wordt er gebeld met Hidde Jurjus. De doelman van FC Groningen kreeg vorige week te horen dat hij moet vertrekken. De club neemt afscheid van een promotieheld. „Ik ga het hier echt missen.”</p> <p>Een dag na de uitschakeling in de play-offs door Ajax kreeg FC Groningen-doelman Hidde Jurjus te horen dat zijn aflopende contract niet werd verlengd. Dinsdagochtend nam hij tijdens een ontbijt op de club afscheid van zijn medespelers.</p> <p>Huilen deed Jurjus niet, zegt hij, maar op momenten had hij wel een kleine brok in de keel. „Iedereen zag wel aan mij dat het wat met me doet.”</p> <p><br></p> <p>* Vragen voor in de podcast? Hans Nijland haalt hard uit naar KNVB en Ajax: ‘Dit is idioterie!’
<p>Waar het in de nieuwste aflevering van Radio Milko eigenlijk over het sportieve succes van FC Groningen moest gaan, draaide het gesprek al snel volledig om de chaos rond het play-offduel met Ajax. Niet de kansen op Europees voetbal stonden centraal, maar de vraag waarom supporters van FC Groningen niet welkom zijn bij de wedstrijd in Volendam.</p> <p>Voormalig FC Groningen-directeur Hans Nijland spaart niemand. Vooral Ajax en de KNVB moeten het ontgelden. „Als je je zaakjes niet voor elkaar hebt en je kunt niet spelen in je eigen stadion, dan is er maar één oplossing: draai die wedstrijd om,” stelt Nijland fel. Volgens hem heeft Ajax dit scenario volledig onderschat door de Johan Cruijff ArenA beschikbaar te stellen voor concerten van Harry Styles.</p> <p></p> <p>FC Groningen-supporters zijn niet welkom in Volendam. Hans Nijland is woest. „Omdat FC Volendam-supporters zich misdragen, worden Groningse supporters gestraft. Het is volstrekt belachelijk. Dit is idioterie!”</p> <p>Ook clubwatcher Thijs de Jong begrijpt weinig van de beslissing. „Voor Ajax is het óók een uitwedstrijd. Waarom zouden hun supporters dan wel welkom zijn?” vraagt hij zich hardop af.</p> <p></p> <p>Volgens Nijland is vooral het gevoel van onrecht groot bij de achterban van FC Groningen. „Een jaar lang hebben die supporters overal massaal achter de club gestaan. Dan bereik je de play-offs, het hoogst haalbare, en dan mogen juist zij er niet bij zijn.”</p> <p>De oud-directeur kondigt zelfs aan een brief naar de KNVB te sturen. „Ze zullen er waarschijnlijk niks mee doen, maar ik wil hiermee wel steun uitspreken aan de supporters.”</p> <p></p> <p>* Vragen voor in de podcast? FC Groningen op drempel van play-offs. ‘Het was weer feest in Euroborg’
<p>Na de nederlaag van FC Groningen tegen Excelsior klonk er een striemend fluitconcert van de tribunes van Euroborg. Een week later stond het stadion in vuur en vlam na de zege op NEC.</p> <p>Podcast-presentator William Pomp begrijpt er snars van. Hij vraagt zich af hoe het toch kan dat FC Groningen tegen de kleinere ploegen slecht presteert, maar Ajax, AZ en NEC in Euroborg verslaat. Clubwatcher Thijs de Jong een supporter Willem Groeneveld zoeken ook naar antwoorden.</p> <p>Feest</p> <p>Was Euroborg na de nederlaag tegen degradatiekandidaat Excelsior nog in mineur, zondag stond het stadion op z’n kop. „Het was een feest”, jubelt Groeneveld, die genoot van het spel van FC Groningen. „De vier aanvallers schoten alle kanten op en dat ging niet ten koste van het druk zetten of het voetballende vermogen. Dat was echt heel knap.”</p> <p>De uitverkiezing tot speler van het jaar van Thom van Bergen komt ook voorbij in de podcast. Volgens De Jong en Groeneveld is de prijs voor de spits meer dan terecht. Pomp noemt een andere speler tot zijn seizoensfavoriet.</p> <p>Tussen alle loftuitingen is er ook nog plaats voor kritiek. Het optreden van doelman Etienne Vaessen was andermaal teleurstellend. De Jong maakt zich er niet druk om, maar Groeneveld is een andere mening toegedaan. „Ik ben een beetje Vaessen-moe”, verzucht Groenveled.</p> <p></p> <p>* Vragen voor in de podcast?
