2025 Week #37 - London Networking Opportunities You Can't Miss

Hello, and a very good morning! Welcome to Week #37 of Raise Your Profyle. I’m Chris, co-founder of Profyle Card, and I’ve been on the hunt to find you the most interesting business and networking events happening in London over the next 7 days. If you are looking to build on your professional network… then you’re come to the right place! As London shakes off the last traces of summer and settles into September's crisp rhythm, the tech scene is absolutely buzzing with an incredible lineup of events this week. From cutting-edge AI developments to founder stories that'll make you laugh and cringe in equal measure, there's something for every corner of the startup ecosystem. The week kicks off with defence tech innovators gathering to tackle Europe's most pressing security challenges, while AI enthusiasts can dive deep into the latest developments in agent technology with insights straight from LangChain's co-founder. Wednesday brings a delightful chaos of options - whether you're into design engineering, want to hack away with Cursor, or fancy hearing some spectacular failure stories at FuckUp Nights. The week rounds out with thoughtful discussions on inclusive product strategy and a hands-on AI hackathon that promises to push the boundaries of what's possible with retrieval-augmented generation. It's one of those weeks where you'll genuinely struggle to choose between events, which is exactly the kind of problem London's thriving communities loves to have. And as always, to power your networking success, Profyle is offering a 20% discount off your first order when you mention the podcast. It's the smart, digital solution for connecting and thriving in today's fast-paced world. So, let’s dive into this week’s events… European Defense Tech Meetup – London (https://luma.com/edth-london-meetup) Monday, 8 September @ 6:30 pm • Register to See Address, Central London Join us this autumn for the European Defense Tech Meetup in London — just days before the London Defense Tech Hackathon! We're bringing together defence innovators, founders, VCs, and industry experts in the heart of London to foster defence innovation for European Sovereignty. Hosted by the European Defense Tech Hub and our partner SurrealDB, with Resilience Media as our Media Partner, this is the perfect opportunity to connect and collaborate with key players in the defence tech ecosystem. LangChain x Microsoft: AI Agents Meetup - London (https://luma.com/w7cu2n0f) Tuesday, 9 September @ 6:00 pm • Register to See Address, Central London A collaboration between Microsoft and LangChain, this intimate meetup features Harrison Chase (LangChain co-founder and CEO) sharing insights on building 'Deep Agents' - AI agents capable of planning complex tasks and executing over longer time horizons. Get your questions answered in live Q&A moderated by Microsoft's Chris Noring, then connect with fellow builders over pizza and drinks. Cursor evening hack (https://luma.com/dynvx08f) Wednesday, 10 September @ 6:00 pm • Iterate Office, Central London Bring your Laptop and the latest Cursor build • an idea (or none – we've got vibes). What's the deal? Forget 48-hour hackathons. We're packing a punchy, after-work hackathon into 2.5 hours of pure flow. No preset theme, no slides, no presentations – just Cursor and whatever you can ship before the playlist ends. How it works: Grab a slice, snag a seat, fire up Cursor. Design Engineering Nights (https://luma.com/up8wm7bq) Wednesday, 10 September @ 6:00 pm • Register to See Address, Central London We (Sam & Tikhon) spent time looking for people like us - people who fell in love at the intersection of two disciplines, design and engineering. We searched for meetups, events, Twitter but couldn't find anything for design engineers. So we are bringing the finest design engineering minds in Europe together. Design Engineering Nights are a home to: 1. Share your own journeys (we know there's no straight path to be a design engineer) 2. Shine the spotlight on what the best design engineers do 3. Get the lowdown on how to get the best out of your tools, workflows, etc. FuckUp Nights London #1 - September 2025 (https://luma.com/7omuitfz) Wednesday, 10 September @ 6:30 pm • Register to See Address, Central London FuckUp Nights London is finally back... And we're relaunching with a bang! and a few brilliant failures. Join us for a night of raw stories, questionable decisions, and glorious lessons learned the hard way. What to expect? Absolutely nothing. That way, we can actually surprise you. Hosted by Saul Truman, a third time founder who lost $2m in under a year building the next Reddit. Life of a Founder // Stephen Whitworth (CEO of incident.io 🔥) (https://luma.com/t6aqout2) Wednesday, 10 September @ 6:30 pm • Register to See Address, Central London Hosted by HYPE: An interview series with London's most visionary founders and CEOs. Life of a Founder is a candid, behind-the-scenes interview series with the most influential founders and CEOs shaping tech in London. We plan to have max 50 attendees with a focus on a classroom like open Q&A format. Stephen Whitworth is the co-founder and CEO of incident.io, the modern incident management platform transforming how engineering teams respond to failure. Inclusion as a Product Strategy: Using Your Influence for Meaningful Impact (https://luma.com/ff1myajc) Thursday, 11 September @ 6:00 pm • 120 Aldersgate St, Barbican Great product leaders don't just ship features. They change lives. They think about who is being left out, so they can serve them more fully and fairly. Inclusion isn't a nice-to-have. It's a competitive advantage and a product strategy that drives better outcomes for users, teams, and businesses alike. Join us to discover how to turn your product influence into a catalyst for inclusive innovation, and why this matters now more than ever. This isn't a sit-back-and-zone-out session. Expect an energising, interactive experience designed to sharpen your thinking and expand your impact as a product leader. Beyond Context Limits: Building Enterprise-Grade AI (https://luma.com/mjbqtbg) Sunday, 14 September @ 11:00 am • Register to See Address, Central London Cohere, Expedite, Oxbridge AI X and Earlybird are excited to bring together builders for a hackathon focused on building with Cohere's leading retrieval models. Recent research has shown that even though context windows are getting larger, performance degrades meaningfully as you scale context utilisation. The long-running debate between RAG vs growing context windows isn't going away, but this recent data suggests RAG is here to stay, especially in the enterprise. We'll be giving participants access to Cohere's Embed and Rerank models to build RAG applications. That's it for this week's Raise Your Profyle!
