Understanding Tourette Syndrome | A Conversation with Harrison Connolly
This is a special episode of Raising Expectations. Special because I recorded it with my son, Harrison Connolly.
From 15 May to 15 June, we recognise Tourette's Awareness Month.
Most of us have a basic understanding of Tourette syndrome and how it can impact people's lives. Often, people think of the most widely recognised forms, such as coprolalia, where someone may suddenly swear or shout obscenities beyond their control.
The reality is that Tourette's is different for everyone.
Harrison was diagnosed in 2017. You may watch or listen to this episode and not notice much at all, but Tourette's is part of Harrison's life and something we embrace as a family. Like many people with Tourette's, his symptoms have changed over time, sometimes becoming more noticeable and at other times settling down.
For us, this episode is simply about raising awareness. Harrison lives an amazing life. He's ambitious, brave, determined, and proud to help people understand Tourette's a little better, while hopefully helping others realise they are not alone.
He's also a keen footballer and a budding musician. In fact, he recently performed a solo rendition of Wonderwall at a family wedding, guitar and vocals included. There isn't much that fazes him.
If you have 10 minutes, we hope you enjoy the conversation.

Exploring the evolution of the Data Center Industry with Aaron Wangenheim
Welcome to the Harper Harrison podcast, where we explore the latest insights, trends, and innovations shaping the future of the built environment.
In this episode, Aaron discusses the evolution of the data center industry over the past 25 years. We explore how, while some challenges remain the same in theory, they have become more complex in practice. We also look at how local communities’ perceptions of data centers have evolved, and how understanding of the industry has changed over the years. As the industry continues to grow, we highlight the importance of making it an industry of choice—particularly in addressing ongoing and significant labour shortages. GET TO KNOW AARON: Aaron is a data center industry veteran with over 25 years of experience. He is the Founder and President of Base Partners—an advisory firm supporting investors, developers, and data center service companies across areas including platform investment, capital raising, and market strategy. Previously, Aaron served as COO and Chief Marketing Officer of T5 Data Centers, and before that held significant real estate experience at The Staubach Company, where he first entered the data center sector in the late 1990s.
