#073: Desire Before Discipline: Raising Children Who Want Arabic

Why does your child resist Arabic? It's rarely the language itself. It's how Arabic arrives. In this episode, taken from our monthly Mindset and Intention Circle, I talk about desire before discipline: correction, tired days, our own fears, and my story of refusing Arabic for years. We cannot force desire. We can only create the conditions for it to grow, make du'a, and leave the results to Allah. Take it further with the 5-day challenge (https://www.skool.com/arabic-nest-family-4152/classroom/1ea4f0a2?md=256b8a6f7dd64c4d850e61c2e6972a5d), in the classroom of our free community. ---- 🎙 Welcome to Raising Righteous Muslims Through Arabic, the podcast for Muslim parents who want to connect their children to the language of the Qur’an. #072: Keeping Arabic Alive Far From Home With 🌟 Sally @just a normalmom

Salima grew up in Algeria where, in her words, Arabic was simply the air she breathed. Then she became a mother in the United States, and everything changed. In this conversation she shares how she built an Arabic home from nothing but intention. She started speaking to her daughter in the womb, narrated entire days to a three month old, and made Algerian Derja the language of her house, long before any formal Arabic. She also talks about what changed with her second child, why every family needs its own approach, and how storytelling became the thread running through her children's days. Her closing advice is one every mother abroad needs to hear: you are not teaching your children Arabic, you are teaching them identity. You can find Salima over on instagram at @just_a_normalmom (https://www.instagram.com/just_a_normalmom/)and check her podcast 'The Little Linguists (https://open.spotify.com/show/2x81OKUZYneYkVe8isr0Qd?si=6023f5dc686d4778)', a children's podcast telling stories in English, French and Arabic. ---- 🎙 Welcome to Raising Righteous Muslims Through Arabic, the podcast for Muslim parents who want to connect their children to the language of the Qur’an.
