About Raising The Bar: Stories From The Equestrian World
While my quest is not to change the world my inspiration is to help influence and motivate people like myself with stories from those individuals who have helped change me.
Today’s episode is a little different. It’s a companion to the latest Mindfulness & Horsemanship blog, where we’re exploring a question I think many of us ask at different stages of our lives: Who am I in the horse world now?
Joining me is Stephanie, a lifelong horsewoman whose journey has evolved from being a champion hunter rider to embracing a very different season of life—one centered on family, an older beloved mare, and rediscovering what it means to simply love horses. Together, we talk about identity, how our definition of success changes over time, and why the life we’re living may be far more meaningful than the one we once imagined.
As a bonus feature, I’ll also be reading “A Letter to My Younger Self,” a personal reflection on growing older, redefining success, and learning to be proud of a life built around family, horses, and the people who matter most.
I hope this conversation encourages you to look at your own journey with a little more kindness and reminds you that there are many beautiful ways to belong in the horse world.

The Gift of Time
In a world that constantly encourages us to move faster, our horses often teach the opposite lesson.
In this episode of Raising the Bar, Priscilla reflects with guests Caroline and Erin on their journey of developing young horses, the pressure of timelines in the equestrian world, and the wisdom found in allowing growth to unfold naturally. Drawing inspiration from watching her own young horses mature, as well as lessons that date back to Xenophon more than 2,000 years ago, she explores why trust, confidence, and partnership can never be rushed.
Whether you’re bringing along a young horse, navigating a difficult season, or simply reflecting on your own journey, this episode is a reminder that there is no prize for rushing through the good parts.
Sometimes the greatest gift we can offer our horses—and ourselves—is time.

Season Two: Reflection
In this episode, I’m joined by Laura Godsoe and Molly Pirrung for a round table discussion about the mental side of riding, the stories we tell ourselves, managing expectations, and why some of our greatest successes have nothing to do with ribbons or scores. We also discuss how real confidence is built, why mindfulness is a daily practice rather than a motivational quote, and how horses often become our greatest teachers in learning to stay present.
I hope you’ll give it a listen, read the accompanying blog, and join the conversation. Whether you’re chasing big goals, rebuilding confidence, or simply trying to enjoy your horse a little more each day, this one is for you.
✨ Because sometimes the most important thing we train isn’t the horse—it’s ourselves. 🐴💙
