47. 'But I'm a Good Person!!!'

If you ever hear yourself getting defensive, demanding you are a 'good person,' maybe you're not! Maybe you are trying to rationalize your behavior because you are so convinced you are a good person. Instead of getting your self awareness on, you are probably missing out on some great learning opportunities. Trigger warning, we explore a few delicate topics in this episode, so if you don't want to hear about assault, please switch to a more light hearted episode about systemic racism or the subtle art of not giving a fuck. We endure so much in the world of stand up comedy. Do we have to be gross to get close with comedians?

46. Um... What is Juneteenth?

Juneteenth is not the day enslaved people were freed or the day slavery ended. It’s the day when enslaved Texans found out they had been free... for over 2 years, on June 19th, 1865. That was two years after 'Honest' Abe released his greatest hit, The Emancipation Proclamation, on Jan 1st, 1863. The confederates, however, were not just going to let those slaves go free. So... they didn't tell them they were free for as long as possible! And that's the world we are living in today. It's ok if you didn't know! Sonal just found out this week. And Meg knows because she knows way more than people born in this country... such as Sonal. In the time you read the description of today's episode, you could have placed a call to Daniel Cameron, the attorney general in charge of Breonna Taylor's case. Press 1 to leave a voicemail and ask them to arrest the cops that took her life. 502-696-5300

We are living in a very exciting time. We didn't have the language to put our feelings into action... and now we do! And the whole world seems to be protesting. It can get very tough talking to our families! We'll share some tips. There is so much incredible shit happening with the #BlackLivesMatter movement! And... there is a lot of weird performative shit! Sure, we're all very excited about the big BLM street in Washington D.C., but is the mayor helping the defund the police???
