This episode is a conversation with Dr. Jose Lopez, professor of Physics and director of Grants and Research services within Seton Hall’s Office of the Provost in the Academic Affairs Division. He is a highly acclaimed science communicator and has served as science and technology expert in various local, national and international organizations. Among other accolades, in 2012 he was recognized as one of the “Top 20 Biggest Brains in NJ.” Alongside teaching and other responsibilities, Professor Lopez is a member of Seton Hall University’s Artificial Intelligence Advisory Council. An Advisory body that provides strategic guidance on the responsible and mission-aligned use of artificial intelligence at Seton Hall University. Charged by the Provost and the Chief Information Officer, the council supports the thoughtful integration of AI across academic, research and administrative areas in alignment with the University’s Catholic mission and strategic plan, Inspiring Great Minds to Greater Purpose. Artificial Intelligence presents significant opportunities for higher education alongside important ethical and academic considerations.
Professor Lopez attended the first edition of Seton Hall University’s seminar on “Ethics & Values in the Era of AI” which was offered in January 2026.

Welcome to “Speaking about Chesterton” the podcast of the G.K. Chesterton Institute for Faith & Culture. Today’s episode is part of our “5 Questions” short format series conversations with distinguished guests.
This episode is a conversation with Lara Bersano, executive director of the International Academy of Catholic Leaders, an organization that offers a variety of programs designed to train leaders committed to the common good from a Christian perspective. The vision of the academic is to form a new generation of leaders with social responsibilities. Among her impressive trajectory, she has also published a number of books on the topic of Artificial Intelligence.
On October 24, 2026, Seton Hall University and the Academy will be partnering once again to offer our second seminar guided on Pope Leo XIX’s encyclical “Magnifica Humanitas.” The seminar will address the topic of “Ethics and Values in the era of AI—with perspectives from Education, Finance and Healthcare.”

In this episode, we will talk about the great Dominican, Father Vincent McNabb, who knew Chesterton well and who had a big impact on him.
In the second episode of the series, our host, Gloria Garafulich-Grabois and Professor Dermot Quinn will speak about Father John O’Connor, another important priest in Chesterton’s life, who was, of course, the model for Father Brown.
Together, Father McNabb and Father O’Connor, helped to shape Chesterton’s soul, and he helped to shape the souls of his readers and admirers. So, they are men we should take seriously.
