Real Shinobi reads short verses transmitted under Ise Yoshimori's name, in the original language and in translation, and asks what they can still tell us about judgment and risk.
The verses come from Ogasawara Sakuun's Gunpō Jiyōshū, in a printed edition from 1653 whose postscript is dated 1618. Each verse is checked against images of its pages, and I mark which parts are my own reading. I do not claim to know who composed them.
The script and the voice are made with AI. The ideas and the final checks are mine.
Knowing the Ground Before You Move: Verses 007, 010, 012
Three verses from a collection transmitted under Ise Yoshimori's name, on one theme: knowing the ground before you move.
Verse 007 is about guiding a camp as it moves. Verse 010 is about castle and camp, difficult ground, forests and shadows. Verse 012 is about a night attack.
The verses are read from a 1653 printed edition of Ogasawara Sakuun's Gunpō Jiyōshū, and I checked all three against images of its pages. Where I add my own reading, the episode says so. I do not claim to know who composed these verses.
How this program is made: the script, the voice and the music (made with Google Gemini) are AI-generated. The choice of verses and the final checks are mine.
