Artist Interview: Alex Anastas - Almost Fridays 10/06/21

<p>Alex Anastas will be creating live art, you can take home<strong> </strong><a href="https://fb.me/e/4hVlH8s3U"><u><strong>this week</strong></u> <u><strong>https://fb.me/e/4hVlH8s3U</strong></u></a><strong> </strong>Friday, 10th June<strong> </strong>at <a href="https://fb.me/e/4hVlH8s3U"><u><strong>Almost Fridays s02e05</strong></u></a><strong>! </strong>Come along from 6pm to see what happens when the worlds of indie music, visual arts, and electronic music collide with extreme prejudice. Come join the family.</p> <p><a href="https://www.instagram.com/alexanastas/"><u><strong>Alex Anastas</strong></u></a> &amp; Ryan chat moleskins, creativity, what it’s like to do live artwork at Almost Fridays, donation wars, being an ex-pat New Yorker, living in Sydney, live remixing, making art without a net, and generally get along as well as you would expect, when a bush-fire meets a brush-fire.</p> <p>Keep an eye on Alex’ <a href="https://www.instagram.com/alexanastas/"><u><strong>instagram</strong></u></a> to stay a-full-breast of his adventures.</p> <p>Alex Anastas was born and raised just outside of NYC, but has lived in Sydney off and on since 2006. Dabbling in a bit of everything with art over the years, he mainly makes art based around the concept of synesthesia. Often this manifests itself as literal but gestural real-time sketches in pen while at concerts. If it is a 2 set affair the second set will be more surrealist expressive as to what is being felt from the music. In recent times, Alex has been commissioned to make live art at concerts by the promoters, venues and musicians themselves.</p> <p>The music you heard on this episode is from <a href="https://www.instagram.com/reallyniceband/"><u>Really Nice</u></a><strong>.</strong></p>

Artist Interview: The Boy Who Held His Breath - Almost Fridays 01/04/21

<p><strong>Season 2 of Almost Fridays kicks off on April Fools this</strong><a href="https://fb.me/e/1VvlPwWW2"><strong> </strong></a><a href="https://fb.me/e/7hABZtoFQ"><strong>this week</strong></a><a href="https://fb.me/e/1VvlPwWW2"><strong> </strong><u><strong>https://fb.me/e/7hABZtoFQ</strong></u></a><strong>! </strong>&amp; we have something of a first! What is it, you ask??? One of our Live Remixers: Adrian Elmer, AKA <a href="https://theboywhoheldhisbreath.bandcamp.com/album/modes-of-limited-transposition"><strong>The Boy Who Held His Breath</strong></a> (TBWHHB) <a href="https://theboywhoheldhisbreath.bandcamp.com/album/modes-of-limited-transposition"><strong>https://theboywhoheldhisbreath.bandcamp.com/album/modes-of-limited-transposition</strong></a>, is launching his mini album in an entirely novel way, novel like LOTR trilogy. Here’s how: Within the context of Live Remixing ie. recording samples of our musical artists, and creating original beats &amp; soundscapes, TBWHHB will be interleaving his freshly baked creations into a layer cake of pieces from his album! Is it a melange, or is a meringue? 🎂🥧🍋🍮🍧👨‍🍳 You must decide for yourself.</p> <p>Adrian provides us with many fascinating topics including multi-modal, interdisciplinary collaboration, stereo artwork, &amp; co-mixing a record between two people, one person mixes the left side, one person mixes the right side! WUT!?<a href="https://www.instagram.com/coneofconfusionband/"><strong> </strong></a>How about: What makes you a valid artist? Where is the line in the sand? How much output do you need to churn out to be eligible for your “I am officially a prolific artist” card!? As always, we take a walk down Lujan’s Alley.</p> <p>That intriguing <a href="https://open.spotify.com/album/1Owxl2WoYl9FiPM68Gy3DB?si=zHZwKovZTIm7dCDiBr9gwQ"><strong>dual mono mix record</strong></a> <a href="https://open.spotify.com/album/1Owxl2WoYl9FiPM68Gy3DB?si=zHZwKovZTIm7dCDiBr9gwQ"><strong>https://open.spotify.com/album/1Owxl2WoYl9FiPM68Gy3DB?si=zHZwKovZTIm7dCDiBr9gwQ</strong></a> from <a href="https://open.spotify.com/artist/2hBlDdcYuLIY5WyN5v3lA6?si=Tw5AJKHlRQKOS2TU9O3fUA"><strong>Telafonica</strong></a>.</p> <p>The music you hear in the tops and tails is <a href="https://theboywhoheldhisbreath.bandcamp.com/album/modes-of-limited-transposition"><strong>The Boy Who Held His Breath</strong></a>’s <strong>https://theboywhoheldhisbreath.bandcamp.com/album/modes-of-limited-transposition </strong><a href="https://theboywhoheldhisbreath.bandcamp.com/album/modes-of-limited-transposition"><strong>new mini album</strong></a><strong>. https://theboywhoheldhisbreath.bandcamp.com/album/modes-of-limited-transposition</strong></p> <p>More Music from Adrian: <a href="https://4-4-2music.bandcamp.com/album/music-for-rainy-summer-days"><strong>Mondrian Forgery</strong></a><a href="https://theboywhoheldhisbreath.bandcamp.com/album/modes-of-limited-transposition"><u><strong> </strong></u></a><strong>https://4-4-2music.bandcamp.com/album/music-for-rainy-summer-days</strong></p> <p>Adrian’s <a href="https://www.instagram.com/ajebec/"><strong>instagram</strong></a> <a href="https://www.instagram.com/ajebec/"><u><strong>https://www.instagram.com/ajebec/</strong></u></a></p>
