When Church Leadership Becomes Abuse
What happens when spiritual leadership crosses the line into control and abuse?
After watching The Death of a Pastor’s Wife, We sat down for a difficult conversation about spiritual abuse, church leadership, accountability, grooming, sexual coercion, biblical submission, and the manipulation of Scripture.
Drawing from our own experiences as former pastors, we also ask an uncomfortable but necessary question: Are the people entrusted with greater spiritual influence being held to a greater level of accountability?
We unpack the difference between desire, entitlement, and coercion in marriage, why telling someone in an abusive relationship to “just leave” ignores the complicated reality of abuse, and what healthy biblical leadership should actually look like.
Healthy leadership creates safety. It welcomes questions. And questioning a leader is not the same thing as questioning God.
