Red House Rising

About Red House Rising

RED HOUSE RISING BEGINS... It's July, 1941. War is already raging in Europe. Japan has swallowed up Korea, and now terrorizes China. Pearl Harbor is about to explode. And three women, an ace transport pilot, a Chinese Intelligence officer and a local Island leader, must join forces to rescue young girls sexually enslaved by the Japanese Navy and its ruthless secret police, the Tokkeitai. As World War II roils the Pacific, this four-season, 21-episode series continues in the islands, in Hawaii, in China and Japan. There's flying and spying and action galore. And the story calls out the fascism, racism and misogyny of that dark time. But Red House Rising is above all about lovers – star-crossed or otherwise – finding their way in a world at war.

   Something New

We are very happy to announce that Red House Rising Season Five is now in pre-production.  We're excited about the story it tells, and we hope to have it out to you sometime in the Fall of 2026.  Meanwhile our new rock'n'roll murder mystery, The Phantom of Ocean Park, has just hit the podcast airwaves. In 1968, Ocean Park in Santa Monica was one of those quintessential places at the epicenter of "Somethin' happenin' here", to quote Stephen Stills. Ocean Park, Venice, by the water, it was Haight-Ashbury, with a beach. All peace and love, until Santa Monica City and its developers imposed eminent domain and bulldozed the beach neighborhoods, devastating families and bankrupting P-O-P, our beloved amusement park, so they could tear down the pier and start throwing up high-rises from Pico to Venice. But that summer of '68, they had a big problem. The Cheetah, Ocean Park's world-renowned rock'n'roll club, was still on the pier and wildly popular, with bands like Creedence packing the house nightly… Then the murders started. The Phantom of Ocean Park, a full cast rock'n'roll murder mystery, wherever you listen to podcasts.

S4 Ep7 Flames Over Red House

ROMANTIC WWII AUDIO DRAMA / HISTORICAL RADIO PLAY SERIES SET IN THE SOUTH PACIFIC, CHINA AND JAPAN. Season Four of the Podcast. It's the Spring of 1945, and the Second World War is in its fourth year in the Pacific. On April 12th, President Roosevelt dies of a cerebral hemorrhage, and Harry Truman becomes President. Two weeks later, Adolph Hitler commits suicide, and the Nazis surrender. With Germany defeated in Europe, the U.S. and its allies focus their full attention on the Japanese. They mine Japan's home islands, preventing vital food and fuel from reaching port. Hundreds of U.S. B-29s carry out a relentless fire-bombing campaign, devastating Tokyo and nearly ever major industrial city. And yet Japan's militarists refuse to surrender. In Hawaii, most interned Japanese-Americans have been released from the camps. Nightly blackouts and martial law have finally ended, but the U.S. military still controls the islands.
